The Dec. 10, 2019 attack unfolded when two heavily armed assailants — David N. Anderson, 47, and Francine Graham, 50 — targeted the Jersey City Kosher Market, killing three innocent people inside: Mindy Ferencz, a co-owner; Douglas Miguel Rodriguez, an employee; and Moshe Deutsch, a customer. Earlier in the day, Detective Joseph Seals was fatally shot by the pair at a nearby cemetery.
It has been 6 years since the tragic, hate-filled shooting in Jersey City that targeted the Jewish community.
Today, we honor all those lives lost, including Detective Joseph Seals, who gave his own life to save others and protect the community. May their memory be a blessing. pic.twitter.com/9hzFQzbd2F

Investigators later determined the gunmen were motivated by antisemitic and anti-police ideology, classifying the rampage as an act of domestic terrorism. Anderson and Graham were killed during a firefight with police, ending the siege but leaving the community deeply shaken.
On Wednesday, Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop marked the anniversary with a public message on X.
“Five years ago today, Jersey City lost innocent lives in the kosher market attack mass shooting,” he wrote. “Antisemitism didn’t start that day and it hasn’t gone away — but communities only stay safe when leaders treat these threats seriously. We remember the victims and stay committed to vigilance.”

Local officials, law enforcement, and Jewish community leaders also held memorial events, emphasizing both the enduring pain and the resilience of the community.
The site of the attack has become a symbol of strength for Jersey City’s growing Jewish population, which continues to advocate for increased security and awareness amid a global rise in antisemitism.
Five years later, the victims are remembered, and the shockwaves felt by Jews around the world continue to resonate.
Six years ago, a violent antisemitic attack on a Kosher market in Jersey City, NJ left five dead as a result, including an officer who heroically lost his life while responding to the attack. Our thoughts are with the families of:

The left will never mention this terrorist attack, since it does not fit in with their narrative of white supremacists. According to them, Blacks can’t be anti-semitic, because they are an oppressed minority. In fact, the left and their friends in the mass media, never report similar attacks against Jews, by members of that oppressed minority.
its 6 years
Was any hishtadlus done to defend against any future attacks c”v?
Why can’t every store owner keep a shotgun or a handgun behind the counter in his place of business? It is legal in NJ with a home permit, even without the concealed carry permit.
If you do hishtadlus for money, you should definitely do hishtadlus for Jewish physical safety.
2019 was also Poway and Monsey. It has driven a huge demographic shift in the orthodox community. A non-jewish gun dealer told me that since 2019 the orthodox community has become proportionally the biggest purchasers of firearms.
What I don’t get is why they would move there on the first place?
