Moscow – Former U.S. spy agency contractor Edward Snowden has broken his silence for the first time since he fled to Moscow eight days ago to say he remains free to make new disclosures about U.S. spying activity.

In a letter to Ecuador, Snowden said the United States was illegally persecuting him for revealing its electronic surveillance program, PRISM. He also thanked Ecuador for helping him get to Russia and for examining his asylum request.
“I remain free and able to publish information that serves the public interest,” Snowden said in an undated Spanish-language letter sent to President Rafael Correa of Ecuador, seen by Reuters.
“No matter how many more days my life contains, I remain dedicated to the fight for justice in this unequal world. If any of those days ahead realize a contribution to the common good, the world will have the principles of Ecuador to thank,” part of the text read, according to a translation.
Snowden, who is believed to be holed up in the transit area of a Moscow airport, complained that the United States was illegally pursuing him for an act he said was in the public interest.
“While the public has cried out support of my shining a light on this secret system of injustice, the Government of the United States of America responded with an extrajudicial man-hunt costing me my family, my freedom to travel, and my right to live peacefully without fear of illegal aggression,” he wrote.
This imbecile must desperately have a death wish!
This guy is an old-fashioned traitor. If he ever sets foot in the US again, or in any country that has an extradition agreement with this country, he could be brought up on charges of treason and sent to the chair, like the Rosenbergs.
He seems to ignore the fact that he is a traitor to his country and is guilty of treason, but besides that he misses his family and his freedom.Good luck Benedict.
All he saying is really nothing but the truth.

bottom line is that we all get away with crime…
The goverment does stuff ileagle when they want (or havto) so we shouldnt be so botherd when somebody wants to do whats good for himself….
Anyways, snowden is dumb for being the one who fights the usa…
To #2 -5Towns Resident- Where have you been lately? The electric chair is no longer used in the USA, as a primary means of execution. It is only allowed in two states, and then, only if the condemned prisoner requests that means of execution. The federal government does not use that form of execution, either. Incidentally, after 60 years, doubt has risen as to Ethel Rosenberg’s actual culpability in the espionage plot. The book was thrown at the Rosenberg’s because of the cold war. It should be noted that although the Judge and Prosecutors on that case were Yidden, not one Jew was permitted to serve on the jury.
I for one, won’t shed any tears for this jerk. Hope he enjoys his life on the run.
The Gov’t doesn’t even know how much information he has. He had access to information on how we monitor terrorists. If he gives out that kind of information,it will set the US back to pre 9/11 days and even threat Israel’s security.
If they gave Jonathan Pollard a Life Sentence, they this guy should get the death penalty.
Wouldn’t it be ironic, if he gets his wish and Ecuador accepts him, then after a few years of living in poverty he’ll pay big bucks to a smuggler to get him back in the USA so he he could get a job as a day laborer !!
I don’t understand how this guy is in any position to threaten anyone? It appears his last two hopes of refuge are Iran and North Korea. When this first broke he stated he was prepared to accept the consequences of his acts. Well, here they are … accept them.
To #16 - Favish- Hey, Feivish, first you have the chutzpah to call me a “communist”, because I stated that there was doubt as to the actual culpability of Ethel Rosenberg. Then, when #15 agreed with me, you referred to him, as well as historians who have studies that case, as “communists”. In other words, anyone who disagrees with you is labeled as a “communist”. The fact of the matter is that I remember the Rosenberg case very well. A horrible photo showing both of them seated in the electric chair just prior to their execution was shown on page one of the NY Daily News. When I served in the armed forces of the United States, one of our training instructors had the nerve to mention to us the Rosenberg case, and seemed to “kvell” that they were executed. They were both executed because of cold war hysteria. A co-conspirator who was convicted with them was released after 18 years.
To #’s 19, and 20- Both of you are disturbed individuals, who seem to qvell in another human being’s suffering. Unfortunately, your attitudes are no different than that bigoted training instructor. A SHANDA!!
