The Misaskim organization has informed VIN News to alert the community about the following.
There is someone going around to menachem aveilim calls, and while he distracts the aveilim, swipes all pushkas from the residence. He shows up the day before the mourners end the shivah week. The suspect has been successful several times already, including recently in Borough Park, exiting with 8 pushkas.
He employs various tricks, pretends to donate money, and then runs. The public is asked to be on the lookout. We will post more details as we receive the information..
probably looks like everyone’s brother-in-law.
Why not supply a description or is someone afraid
get over the fact that you feel bad not giving your precious money if it would really be bothering you to be interupted during davening then when your friend comes over to you in shul tell him that he’s bothering you too
what should we name him?
The Pushka Thief?
The Mourners Thief?
The Kaddish cash Grabber?
The Donation Swindler?
The Shiva Pretender?
The Dead Beater?
please be aware who ur giving money in shul or at ur door….
they might look old and a big white beard but their just as good as any other thief….!!!
no differance than bothering me in shul while i am davening
Or in a desperate financial situation. Don’t judge so quickly. Its sad that someone needs to stoop this low.
how pathetic a life this individual must have to be doing this…
It may be a good idea to make a family member responsible to collect.
Maybe we need to chain pushkas down and no show no open money easily grabbed. What a shanda.
