Brooklyn, NY – “It’s finally a sign of the times: We are taking the doorsteps, stoops and walkways of our private homes back from the distributors who insist on using them for free advertising,” said Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn). Hikind has diligently worked to address this serious violation of the quality of life of New Yorkers. “Several times a week, I got deliveries of bagfuls of materials I did not ask for, nor did I want. If it was so frustrating for me, what did that mean for senior homeowners who were being deluged with these materials which inevitably ends up littering the front of our homes.

“Finally the State provides an equitable remedy for homeowners: If you post a sign specifically stating, Do Not Place Unsolicited Advertising Materials On This Property, and distributors do not abide by it, then the advertiser will face penalties ranging from $250 to $1000, with a $5000 cap per advertiser per day,” Hikind said.
“We are sending advertisers a message that private property, means just that, it’s private and we have a right to decline unsolicited advertising. The law is not applicable to newspapers or political materials.” The signs will be available in Assemblyman Dov Hikind’s office. For further information call 718-853-9616.
Anon. 2:13PM even though VIN is not an Etymology website, we can try; First off, it’s the equivalent of “Handbills”, which was a plague 100-150 years ago. Whoever wanted to attack [anonymously] his neighbor/political opponent, would use a “Handbill”. The linguistic connection could be in two languages; English & French. “Pass The Quill” /Pashkevill. (pluid) which “guarantees” anonymity.
now anyone can get back at those companies that always littered your yard: just distribute a few of their papers at houses with these signs, and hope that that company will get a massive fine.
>>>Although you post the sign on your house nobody will receive a summons because the City “did not” designate an agency to write the summonses>>>>
You are wrong. The law was amended.
Although you post the sign on your house nobody will receive a summons because the City “did not” designate an agency to write the summonses.
what does PASHKAVALEN mean?
I seem to recall hearing that word in the past.
Thanks.

The way sick people operate in NYC, if you post that sign on your property, they will purposely throw flyers onto your property just to upset and spite you.
Guaranteed.

Maybe the signs should’ve been written in a Chinese or Spanish…
