Sorah Oppen tells the New York Post she was riding in boyfriend Yehuda Coriat’s car Wednesday afternoon in the Far Rockaway neighborhood when they were pulled over and told they were suspected of transporting weapons and drugs.
A friend’s video shows officers standing by as the couple opened the trunk, which had balloons and flowers. Then Coriat proposed.
Oppen says the officers weren’t on duty and staged the scene as a favor after one of the couple’s friends asked.
The New York Police Department didn’t immediately have information Friday night on whether the officers were off-duty and what policies the department may have on such simulations.
Nice to see the human side of the Police department displayed. We know it’s there but after the last almost 8 years of the president’s war against the cops, this is nice to see.
This story being reported might cause the officers big problems if not actually ending their careers. If the story is as reported sarah should have not contacted the press.
And why exactly would this “genius” share this information with the New York Post??
Sure very lucky the couple wasn’t carrying a small hammer.
Why would someone propose in any way other than just asking?
What happened to the old-fashioned l’chaim?
What a kiddush Hashem!
Wow, now I see there is another way that marriage and divorce operate similarly. As many already know it’s often that a husband proposes divorce to his wife and within ten minutes she is on the phone with 911 inviting the police to the home and citing a laundry list of false criminal charges against him. Sure hope the Kallah here does not one day find reason to reciprocate in the same fashion. In truth my opinion is the chasan an the kallah are both very childish and big fools that deserve each other.
Kudos to NYPD this is called Community Service. I don’t understand why anyone would have a problem with this
I pity the negative commentators, maybe you’re too ultra orthodox for this or you just didn’t think of being so original. I just don’t see why the negativity. Let everyone live for themselves and keep you jealousy out.
Now the police department is investigating. Another chillul hashem if they were on duty. Why did this couple have a need to publicly post pictures? They could not just send to immediate family?
