Queens, NY – Approximately 200 students and faculty members of Rambam Mesivta staged a protest this afternoon on the continued presence of Nazi war criminal, Jakiw Palij, in front of his home at 33-18 89th Street, Jackson Heights, Queens, NY.

Documents show that in 1943 Palij served as an armed guard in the notorious Trawniki labor camp. On November 3, 1943 Trawniki guards conducted an SS operation code-named Operation Harvest Festival during which 6,000 people were brutally slaughtered in a 24 hour period.
In 1944, Palij was an active member of the Deployment Company that perpetrated numerous atrocities against innocent civilians.
Palij gained entry into the United States in 1949 by falsely claiming that he was a farmer during World War II. In July 2003, Palij was stripped of his citizenship on the grounds that he ‘directly contributed’ to the slaughter of Jews during the Holocaust. In June 2004, Judge Robert Owens ordered Palij’s deportation to the Ukraine – but Ukraine refused to extradite him.
Palij is the last known Nazi war criminal living in New York City. According to rally organizer Rabbi Zev Friedman, “Palij’s continued presence in the United States should disgust every freedom loving American. When we think of the fact that tens of thousands of brave young American men and women gave their lives to fight the Nazis scourge and were unable to start a new life on these shores, while these Nazi murderers illegally came to the United States and continue to benefit from everything that our country has to offer, one must be outraged.”
Also attending the rally was radio show host Curtis Sliwa and other dignitaries.
Kudos to the students and faculty at Rambam! Their activism is an example for other NYC area schools and yeshivos.
Curtis Sliwa is a real mentch, he always stands up for whats right.
Since when do rosh yeshivos take their talmidim out of the beis medresh to organize protests?
I don’t understand this world today.

Shkoiach to the bucherim from Rambam and to Curtis Sliwa!
Yup. Its a real number.and somone picked up. Everyone call
What do they want him to do? Kill himself?
Why has he not been arrested for war crimes and why is the US and NY letting him live here?
reply to #6 your a sick liberal its time to face reality were not in Lakewood were in NYC
Why was he not prosecuted or Indicted?
The world stands on Torah learning.
They should do to him midah kenaged midah. Cut his hands feet. peel his skin an apply hot pepper with salt on his body an hang him in time square. As I’m remebring those achzorim what day did. Oih der yingah doir will an should never understant
Someone should do the same in front of Demjanjuk’s house so that he does not have a moment’s rest until he either peygers or is removed from the USA.
I don’t have any position on whether or not this rally was a good use of time, but I don’t really get how being opposed to bitul zman (which I assume is what #6 was getting at) is the same thing as being liberal? And anyway, seriously, which is better, going out to protest something or learning Torah? Again, not making any value judgments, I’m sure the folks organizing these protests are doing what is right, I just don’t think you should all be attacking this guy for what he said.
Dont just call him do it in middle of the night.
