BNEI BRAK (VINnews) — Rabbi Chaim Kanievski issued a letter Sunday in which he called on each and every Jew to increase the study of Torah since “Calamities only occur because of Yisrael” (Yevamot 63a) and Torah study has been weaker over the past year. [Due to the numerous elections in Israel as well as the coronavirus]

Rabbi Kanievski also called on those who can to fast at least half a day on Wednesday, and to say the prayer for Yom Kippur Katan before Mincha. He added that the prayers are more important than the fast and can help to prevent more infection.
Rav Chaim added that if one accepts upon himself beforehand to fast even half a day, he may say the Anenu prayer during Mincha.
Does anyone know if the fast is for all Jews worldwide, or only for Israel? I ask because I did last week’s fast called for by the Moetzes Gedolei HaTorah. I am certainly willing to do another one if it necessary, but I wanted to clarify first. Thank you.
As long as we’re going to keep on excluding all, Non-Yidden who are not well, from our Teffilos, those Teffilos will be ignored in Shomayim. They will be labeled as selfish Teffilos coming from a selfish nation.
dd…. right on.
The english translation of Rav Chaim Kanievsky’s statement has a bracketed statement which may lead people to think that he made a judgmental statement. The statement does not appear in the original Hebrew and should only be made by the editors in their own editorial. Thank you,
Can anyone post the Original letter written in hebrew by rav chaim?
