In a decision announced today, U.S. District Judge Carol Bagley Amon barred a group of smoke shops on Long Island’s Poospatuck (POOS’-pah-tuk) reservation from selling tax-free tobacco to the general public.
The judge says only members of the tribe have a right to purchase tax-free smokes at the shops.
That would eliminate much of the business at the stores, which sell millions of cartons a year and are among the biggest cigarette suppliers in the state.
The judge stayed the ruling for 30 days to give the shops time to appeal.
The ruling is a victory for New York City, which sued the stores over the sales.
taxes are really getting put hand. wasn’t the reason why america was started to get away from taxes ?
#2 ….you think you have representation??? Not….
If they do this to the indians business..they will do it to the BP business next….LavDavka….
What about duty-free shops? This is completely racist. How can the government bar a soverign nation from commerce?
The foolishness of this all is that it has nothing to do with “taxation without representation”. Continuously, the Communist citizens (including over 80% of Jews) keep voting to increase the taxes on tobacco. It is those who voted to keep increasing these taxes who have empowered your Communist government to impose 600% taxes on cigarettes. What made you think it would stop there? Clearly everyone is perfectly happy to pay 600% taxes, because you keep voting for it.
You are seeing the exact representation you all VOTED FOR in action. Congratulations on being the first TRULY communist state in the union.
