New York, NY – The chairman of the board of the MTA Peter Kalikow has announced that he is resigning the post. He made the announcement at 101 Park Avenue, a building that the Kalikow family owns.
Kalikow, a real-estate developer and Pataki appointee, promised to resign after the groundbreaking for the Second Avenue Subway.

Kalikow will continue as chairman until Gov. Spitzer names a replacement, which is expected to take another several weeks. Spitzer ruled out giving the post to Elliot Sander, who was named executive director and chief executive at the beginning of the year. [WABC]
