Tension between the community board and Boymelgreen goes back to 2004, when construction workers damaged a handball court in J.J. Byrne Park. In 2005 the Parks Department made a deal requiring Boymelgreen to spend $1.6 million to renovate the park in exchange for the right to use the park as a staging area for construction. Boymelgreen’s office says the renovations will be done by the end of the summer. The DOB says it is looking into the situation. [brooklyn paper]
