New York – Attention E-Z Pass users at all Port Authority Bridges and Tunnels, including the George Washington Bridge, Holland and Lincoln Tunnels, Bayonne Bridge, Goethals Bridge and Outerbridge Crossing save $5 per toll.
If you have three people in your car and you use E-Z Pass, the toll is only $1 at all times. To be eligible, you must call E-Z Pass and enroll in the PACP plan. Drive into a staffed lane, roll down the window, and say “Carpool” to the attendant. He or she will count heads and push a button that will charge you just $1 for the crossing. And yes, babies count too!

At night you gotta use the UPPER LEVEL (and have atleast 3 ppl in the car) if you want to get the carpool discount.
And aslo you gotta use the CASH LANE!!!
Does anyone know why you need to “sign up” for the program? Why can’t any car with 3 or more people get the discount?
Any idea how to get the discount on the GWB coming from the Palisades at night when only unmanned lanes are open?
In regards to $1 monthly charge:
this is only charged if you placed your order with NY E-Zpass, and not if you place your order with NJ EZpass.
now if you want to add the car pool plan if you have a NY EZpass you can just call or add it online at no charge.
if you have NJ E-Zpass and you want to add the car pool option to your plan it will cost you $1 per month.
so for those of you that never travel to NYC and you have a NJ E-Zpass don’t add this option to your plan. “yidish gelt is zier tier”
This is such a simple feature, and unlike the PA’s other plans, you can just sign up to have it on your account whether you use it or not. You just have to have three or more people in your car, and use a manned toll lane. When there’s a lot of traffic, you have the option to choose to wait for a manned lane for the discount, or to drive through an EZPass lane without the discount.
Now, does anyone know how to do away with the lousy monthly charges that seem to be inevitable these days no matter who you have your EZPass plan through? Are there any plans or billing options that don’t charge you? Or are any agencies still not charging it?

We have been doing this for a few years. I roll down the windows in the back and my kids yell together “CARPOOL”. The attendant usually gets a good laugh.
This has been around with ezpass forever. When I moved to Joisey in ’00, I signed up for it — ONLINE! Maybe EzpassNY finally woke up and joined its neighbors to the west?
Make sure you check your bill sometimes I have drove through and told them carpool only to get my bill later and found they charged regular price
Instead of saying “carpool” or “commuter discount” to the toll collector, I’ve taken to saying “Taco Chips” and the discount has always been applied.

It has always been with any bridge or tunnel crossing that is under the Port Authority. No MTA or TBTA.

I think that until now you were only able to have yourself signed up for one bridge, now it changed to any of those,correct me if I am wrong. anyways the EZ-pass phone number is 800-333-TOLL (8655)

This carpool thing has been around for 30 years. It used to be with the little green books and not on weekends. Now with EZ Pass they raised it to $1 and have it all year round. You must use the cash lanes(even during rush hour) only. Sometimes they don”t look and you can go with only 2.
whats this all about now i’v been doing this for 2 1/2 years?
This is ONLY for Port Authority crossing, from NY to NJ, nor for TBTA crossing within NYC. (Battery Tunnel, Tri-Boro bridge, etc..)
when will the overpaid bureaucrats under the lousy bloomy provide the same discount on the Verrazano,Brklyn Battery Tun,MIdtown Tun and all the other non Port AUthority facilities?
All these city politicans want to do is take our money.
