    Carmel Valley, CA – A man convicted of arson in connection with a synagogue was sentenced to six and a half years in prison.

    Manuel Tiscareno-Renteria, 27, was convicted May 26 of causing more than $128,000 worth of damage to Congregation Beth Am Synagogue, which is located in the 5050 block of Del Mar Heights Road.
    Tiscareno doused the synagogue's sanctuary doors with gasoline and lit it aflame on Oct. 11, 2003.
    Tiscareno, whose 2004 conviction in the case was overturned on appeal, was also ordered to pay $6,000 in restitution in connection to the case.

    A day care and religious school were not damaged by the fire, and no one was injured by the fire.[nbc]
