Spokeswoman Lynne Weill said this morning that the 80-year-old Lantos, the only survivor of the Holocaust to serve in Congress, died at Bethesda Naval Medical Center.

Boruch Dayan Emes. This should be said on anyone who survived the vicious, murderous rampage of the Nazis, may the Borei Olom wipe them out once and for all.

The younger generation born in America, of which I am such, cannot even begin to imagine what these people went through. We walk the streets proud. They were hunted like bears and deer. Who under age 65 can understand this concept.

May his family have true nechama knowing that he made a Kiddush Hashem in his public service.

Baruch Dayan Haemet. He was a true public servant and proud Holocaust survivor — the only one elected to the US Congress!
