Spitzer's proposed budget would require Internet giants like Amazon to collect tax on an estimated $47 million in sales to New Yorkers.
Amazon spokesman Paul Misener says the governor's plan would be a radical departure from anything currently being done in the U.S.
He says other states have considered similar plans, but abandoned the idea. [AP]
Every one of you who voted for Spitzer enjoy paying more taxes, oh and enjoy the thought of illegals driving around NY, which will be passed one day, thanks to him.
Tell spitzer to go get a mexican drivers license, and go live there!
I thought that the internet itself is not taxed but business sales and use tax continues, regardless of how you order it.
Isn’t this illegal under the internet sales tax rules of the late 90’s, which were renewed last year? There will be companies which will ignore this entirely, and others which will fight it.
World-Get Real.
We all know why people choose Amazon over heimishe businesses sometimes, it is the taxes. Truth be known, you still are required to pay sales tax on purchases like these but some people forget. These taxes would help all people pay tax equally and when less people avoid taxes the rates go down or stop going up.
