Do you really think that this is going to save our children? lipa’s concerts, matisyahus rap? all that hippy style music? i think this is what is encouraging drugs in your youth YES, when you are taking drugs you want to sing LIPA! So it’s one and the same.

i understand that some of you need to say all this nasty things about the rabanim because you want to go to the concert and you feel guiltyif there is an issur, buy you know very well that they are right you know that is not going to improve yidishkeit for your children its not going to make your or your children more happy and ‘b’shimcha’ you know all of that very well, now if you feel that you have to go you can’t resist just ignore the issur and go you don’t need to say that the rabanim want more priority and they hate you i don’t want you to have a good time and them to make money, i agree that some ‘askunim’ are runnig arround to the rabanim and they are signing right away, that’s because the rabanim don’t know everything what’s going on on the streets and they are trusting those people which are not always ‘lashumayim’ in either case the rabbanim are not telling us not to go to the concert because ‘they want so’ they are saying some ‘mamurey chazal’ and ‘halachus’ from shilchun aruch what will you do with that?

To all you out there diagreeing with the gedolei yisroel and rabanim: It’s about time you all take a minute and look around and see all the problems and sorrows we are surrounded by. Years ago when I was growing up it was said to us one time by a real great person “Mosiach’s time will be when parents are going to fear their children” It was mind boggling at the time but as time went by this has come true; arent we the children of our godolei yisroel these days? WHO ARE WE TO ANSWER BACK WITH SUCH CHUTZPAH? Would you attack your parents like this if thet were to tell you not to attend?

Yes a concert is perfect for those who don’t know any better, yes it is rather to go to THE BIG EVENT than doing something that is wrong min hatorah. but for those who come out and openly talk against the people that we go and ask shaylos for our everyday living situation for that there is no excuse. If all of was would just live for yourselves and stop living in everyone elses life we would be able to be alot happier and work on ourselves to be a better person.
To those who are going I am sure it’s with a clear conscious and for those who are not going ashreichu to you and you will only grow by bystanding this great nesoyan

While I will not kid myself and say I don’t understand why they banned the concert , I will add that they are fighting a war they can never win, but can’t blame them from trying
atleast all the thousands of people who will be at the concert that night, they will not be online chatting with people of the oposite sex that they are not married too ( hey they might wink to them over the mechitzah or text or im them on their cell phone, but you get my drift
this comunity has way bigger problems and its time for the rabonim to wake up and smell the coffee and not waste their time and energy on banning a concert where nothing really bad can really happen there, so what, it will be a bit “zelost” and then what? Its not like men and woman will be mingeling there and setting up secret affairs…
    so whats the big deal?
    just let everyone live !

But the whole discussion [here] is irrelevant. Because there is a strong question [factor] about the authenticity of this [banning] poster! Whether one believes in going to the/a concert or not.

I did not see any evidence that those
gedolim whose names are on the “kol Korei” had any intention of having their names placed under it. Also, I did not see any hand written signatures placed under the ban. Is this published “kol korei” a statement made by them?
Before deciding whether or not they made the kol korei, evidence needs to be gathered.

DO YOU EVEN KNOW WHAT IT MEANS TO BE JEWISH?

STOP FOR ONCE AND NOT THINK ABOUT YOUR SELFISH SELVES! – THINK ABOUT YOUR KIDS. HOW DO YOU EXPECT THEM TO KNOW BETTER WITH SUCH IGNORANT PARENTS!

    Dear Esther B. the Fool,
You say you won’t argue with me and then you do. I didn’t say I don’t talk to women- I said I don’t like to talk to idiots.
In your first blog you write we should be quiet- syog the chocmah shtika- PRATICE WHAT YOU PREACH! What insight have you offered?
BTW, of course the guy would lie-look at the power of his story- look at how many fools beside yourself believe him. It’s really not your fault you were taught to blindly follow anyone who has a position of power, but if you can’t think like an adult you shouldn’t ever criticize people like CHABAD who some of them believe that the rebbe is Moshiach, because they are just doing what they were told, just like you. I couldn’t care less whether someone goes to a concert or not, but these rabonnim who think they are the leaders of Klal Yisroel should wake up. To be a leader you have to care about Jews-
remember Moshe Rabbainu the first thing he did- had to do with someone else’s physical pain. So these people who somehow got into power- who want to be considered leaders first must show their caring by stopping the killing, stealing and molestation, after that they can take on other issues.
Pretending that it doesn’t exist is just like what America did during the Holocaust years!

It’s quiet interesting how all of the people sitting here and criticizing those who have a problem with the rabonim for issuing this ban, all seem to not care what most gedolim have banned and keep on speaking out against it ……..The internet. I’m assuming all of you don’t really care or have a loophole or another not to have to listen to them. The fact of the matter is the rabonim are way to busy with nonsense bans and seem to have forgotten that most of our meat isn’t kosher and how many agunas are living amongst us. We all have to do what we think is right and if we follow a particular Rebbe or Gadol then we should adhere to the rules and to their teachings. Rabbonim and Gedolim are not Hashems police for our COMMUNITIES. We are ALL different and all have different customs. This reminds me of how disgusted I was to get a letter in the mail about 2 years ago in regard to how the eruv in flatbush is not kosher. I have never associated myself with any of the rabbonim who signed the paper, and it really upset me how they think that they are the police of Flatbush.

I hate to say this, but virtually all of you are “what can hashem do for me” jews, and if something that YOU don’t like is said or done, rgardless by who, especially from gedolim (of course to YOU, they’re not gedolim, because “you” know better….) it’s fake it’s crazy and these people need to get they’re minds straight to the currnet day and age.

The kol koreh is ONE HUNDRED PERCENT authentic. it’s not a PR move. You all got it wrong, the gedolim are not ssuring “concerts” just THIS one, and why? i’m sure you can figure it out. Th HASC concert, or chanuka or chol hamoed concerts are for something, this is really a “mosheiv leitzim” zero point except for a bunch of “frum jews” trying to copy the goyim.

THis is what the rabom are against. And if you can’t swallow this, maybe it’s time for YOU to rethink why you daven or make a bracha, AIsh hatorah and ohr sameach are not just for assimilated jews.
May we all hope to see moshiach real soon, so we don’t have to have these conversations….

Several people have commented on the post by someone saying he is a father of a child that was niftar. Some have said that it doesn’t matter if the post is true or not. Well, yes it does. Torah = Emes. If a person feels that he has a worthy purpose such as to uphold the honor of Tzadikim and Gedolim but he lies and makes up a false story to encourage this worthy idea, he is going AGAINST Torah and adding sheker and evil to the world.

Please do not write “stories” that you think will influence people. Torah stands on its own and does not need lies to prop it up. If you wish to say that posters much speak much more respectfully, say so; just don’t write stories that are a chilul Hashem and discredit Yahadut.

In his weekly halacha column in Yated Ne’eman newspaper a few months ago, Harav Belsky wrote about music and said that concerts should be banned, at least for Torah scholars-I don’t remember the reasons he gave (I think it had to do with the atmosphere at concerts and the bitul Torah.)

I do think this was a stunt and I think the person who did it, be it the Concert’s PR people or anyone else, zulin zich shemin for causing loshon hora to be said about gedolim ESPECIALLY for no reason!

If it comes out that this was an internal PR job, I will return my tickets and DEMAND a full refund even if I have to take the issue to my CC company.

Since when does a patchkevil take the place of a poysek. If the ad said something was Kosher would you eat it based on a that alone?
Go ask your own Rov, the who knows you, your family and he’ll give you a halachic psak or a good eitzah. Ask the Rov that will address your shaylah and your level of frumkiet, your needs for kosker entertainments and your standards of ztnius. Such a psak will also be reliable and you can easily clarify and questions you may have about it. Halacha hasn’t been one size fits all since we stopped ruling on Zaken Mamreh ( and perhaps even before that.
IF YOU DON’T HAVE A ROV TO ASK GO GET ONE!!! Don’t look to newspapers, mikva raid, patchkevilin or any other bubba maases to guide your life and your familiy’s life.

All this gedolim bashing is perfectly synonymous with the Lipa concert. Just look at the clips advertising the concert, and you will see the epitome of total lack of busha, and anyone in their right mind seeing one of their children behaving or acting like him, would have a triple-fit. The gedolim are not just assuring this and assuring that, they are concerned about the future of klall yisroel. None of the existing performers, even though some may have overstepped tzniuss boundaries, have stooped to this level of utter goyishkeit. In my opinion, the rabonim are wrong in just assering. They should be gozer-taanis, that such an event can even be contemplated. If ch”v we get information that a bomb is being planned in – I don’t even want to mention any – frum neighborhood, we would all without exception drop everything and fast and pray. It is no exaggeration comparing this concert to that. The damage can be catastrophic. We need to exhort our rabonim to come out even more harshly and to make it very clear, that there should be no doubt in anyone’s mind how devastating such a concert can be on the chinuch of our children. Perhaps there has been a lot of money invested in this, but one can’t just go investing money in a public venture without asking, and then expecting to be given consideration as a hefsed meruba. there cxan be no such consideration when it comes to ikerai hadas. Let’s please open our eyes just a bit, and smell the horrible stench coming our way.

    Dear Esther P. Fool,
Even though I don’t like to talk to women, esp. dumb women, in your case I’ll make an exception.
First, I’ll say my point was never to say the Rabbis are wrong or right for assuring concerts, but they have no right to call themselves Gedolim and publicize their opinions, since you never hear anything about basic yiddishkeit from them. Eg. Killing, stealing, molesting. Two of the rabbis that signed from two different yeshivos, both had molesters in their yeshivos and swept it under the table. Do you think people who behave in such a way deserve to have their opinions followed, let alone to remain in their positions as Rosh Yeshivos??
Number 2: if the guy who wrote the letter was speaking any ounce of truth, he would by now have answered my call for some real details- being that he didn’t you can assume it is pure sheker. You obviously don’t realize what this Rusha did, and that was to manipulate people with an emotional issue. He is like the dictator who threatens death to anybody who dissents from them. He with his twisted mind thinks the Rah- bonnim are beyond reproach. The only reason I didn’t fall for his bull was because I really did lose a child and I am not emotionally threatened by him and his ilk. My advice to you dear lady is to open a chumash and read the Aseres Hadibroys and wonder to yourself maybe the reason there is no kedusha amongst the “frumme mentchen” is because we don’t keep even that, we just pretend we do. We fool ourselves into thinking we are holy rollers because we don’t go to concerts and all the other chumras that our generations loves to keep.
Lastly, I would like to thank VIN for letting us blog anonymously, because no one wants to hear mussar that is not PC and I would be hated by the community for speaking the truth.

With all the comments about what gedoali torah should and should not be doing, maybe you should all open a Gadol Training Institute.

I have my doubts about the authenticity of the latter and its signatories but I am shocked by the tone and content of some of the comments written here.

Why does anyone think they do not have to follow the words of only today’s talmidai chachomim? What about those of the last generation? Maybe we don’t have to follow the Mishnah Berura (for the litvaks out there) because it is just something written by a gadol b’yisroel? And why stop there? Why is the RAM”A any more important? It is also just something written by a gadol b’yisroel.

When they say nothing about problems in our world, we yell that they do not care. When they do say something, we tell them to shut up! Oh, I see, you mean gedolai yisroel should only speak out against yenem’s avairos!

For the poster who wrote asking why they didn’t write something in English – Did it occur to you that the message was meant for people who can open a sefer instead of going to watch Lipa & Co. make monkeys of themselves and degrade all frum yiddin bifnai am vo’aidah and was not meant for the person who cannot open a sefer r”l and going to a ‘Jewish’ rock concert intead of a goyish rock concert is already a big step in the right direction???!!!

I don’t know why my comment from yesterday was not posted…

What I had entered was a number of links to other blogs and websites where this story of ‘Aharon ben Chaya’ was written.

It may not prove that the story is an outright fraud, it does demonstrate that it certainly was a cut and paste job by some yokel and not by the ‘father’.

Even if the story was true, although I sympathize with someone losing a child, it in no way makes this person a modern day prophet.

It’s similar to some Rabbonim who preach after a particular disaster that they know it came about because of…fill in your message…

That’s complete and utter BS, and that people are taken in by such charlatans is sad.

I don’t have a problem with using an unfortunate event as a springboard to strengthen ourselves in certain areas, but to explicitly state that it occurred because of ‘x’ is heresy. How the hell do you know God’s reasoning?

Lipa is a horrible influence on our children. By allowing our children to idolize him, we are teaching them grubkeit at the highest level. So, what’s right about the concert. You see that Gertner, a really aideler yungerman, backed out.

I would not want my children to go to this concert. I don’t even enjoy when he sings at a wedding. Yes he is an amazing entertainer. He just needs to get his Hashkofos in the right place. If he is Jewish, he should act it. He should stop trying to imitate the Non-Jews. If I wanted that, there are plenty more “exciting” and more professional and more entertaining Goyishe places to go to than a Lipa Concert.

Please Lipa, you have alot of talent. Use it in the right way.

If people would taste even just once true spiritual pleasure they would not even entertain the thought of going to such a concert. In todays world every one is pursuing PLEASURE but the true rich pleasures of life are in a daf gemara In a geshmaka davening In a True taam Of Shabbos Kodesh. These pleasures are to earthly pleasures what coarse hard bread is to a king although the pauper may rejoice in them for lack of s/t better. Moshiach is too afraid to appear… Today’s Jews would probably call him a Goy & Am Hararetz. Moshiach Ben Yosef is going to fight wars. The Rabbonim will probablly make a new takanah against anyone who follows him because we are in golus and can not fight the goyim. Jews do not want moshiach because then they won’t be able to steal from one another! Jews don’t want Moshiach because Simchas Bais Hasheyva is too much “Kolas Rosh” and doesn’t “past”.

Words fail me in describing what I feel at this time. We are an Am kadosh, a nation with so much chessed. How low we have fallen. Where in this group of posts do we see any chessed? anything Kodosh?
Bashing our Rabbanim because we do not agree???
A father writes from the pain deep in his heart, and there are people cynical and despicable enough to criticize him? Even if you might have your doubts, siyug l’chochma shtika.
We have sunk so low, because we can say whatever is on our minds, and say it anonymously, so we “get away with it”. If you are so brazen and feel so secure and strong with your thoughts, why not sign your own names.
Why can’t we sympathize with the letter writer? Where is our rachmanus? Even if you disregard the mussar in his letter (I don’t see why everybody didn’t shiver when reading this), how dare you degrade the writer?

R”L. There are people who aren’t getting that feeling from shabbos seuda with their family.

Watching Lipa twist n’ shout is not the solution to the problem. At best it is like treating a heart ailment (c”v) with alka seltzer. It might make you feel better for a few minutes but there is still something horribly wrong with the person.

The time would be better spent thinking about what is missing from your life that you know you should be doing.

With so many tzurosin in our midst
between the pressures of making a living, paying tuition, shidduchim, supporting kollel couples we as a klal have forgotten how to smile, laugh and enjoy life. Maybe Lipe takes it a little to the extreme but after watching him perform you can’t help but feel better about life.

I would love to go to a Shloime Gertner concert. I think that the word “Big Event” is the problem. Anything BIG is going to make a “Big Commotion”.
An Event would have been nicer.
