Buildings Commissioner Patricia Lancaster says the inspections will happen over the next month at sites that have supported scaffolds or sidewalk sheds. She also issued new requirements requiring construction workers to give the city two days notice before erecting scaffolds under 40 feet high.
The announcement comes after the death of a construction worker who fell about 13 stories off a scaffold in Brooklyn last month. A window washer also died in a fall of more than 40 stories from a scaffold in December. [AP]
I WONDER WHO IS IN MORE DANGER THE PERSON ON THE SCAFFOLD OR THE PERSON PASSING BY.
