Nassau County police arrested 19-year-old Mayer Sadian, of Roslyn Heights, for leaving the scene of an accident that killed cardiologist Jeffrey Siegel.

Siegel was on his way to pick up pizza for his family in Roslyn Heights — his wife and three daughters awaiting him in their Old Westbury home — when a reckless, speeding Honda Accord swerving along Mineola Boulevard smashed so violently into him as he crossed the street that the 48-year-old was killed instantly, as was reported here on Vos Iz Neias.
"We're thankful that we're able to bring a positive end to this situation," said an emotional Nassau Homicide Chief Det. Lt. Mike Fleming.

Police arrested Sadian, charging him with manslaughter and leaving the scene of a crime. Sadian has a history of moving violations and license suspensions, and police feared he was about to flee the country, possibly to his native Iran.

Police say DNA from the scene, witnesses, and a partial license plate led them to Sadian's home on Rusell Street, where they say the suspect's family refused to cooperate.

Hidden behind the garage door of the house, investigators found the damaged vehicle.

Siegel was an admired physician at North Shore University Hospital and a volunteer at his synagogue, where officials are raising money for a book in his honor.

Sadian is currently being held without bail. His attorney said the teen was remorseful and had even tried to turn himself in. [wcbstv]

It is most sad and unfortunate for the lost of a life as valuable as the decease. However, also sad for the unforsaken mistake to run away from mishaps. Run but you cannot hide. Much gratitude to our Nassau police for never giving up. Justice will prevail. Mercy on all of us.!

Anon. 6:20PM. Unfortunately, (David) Mayer Sadian is a Persian Jew, too. Which is irrelevant. (pls. lk. up in Dict.) The key word here is his driving record, which shows a callous attitude towards safety.

p.s.: I don’t know [of] too many [Persian] “Goyim” (plural) who left Iran. (and came to America).

I somehow doubt Mayer is going back to Iran.
