The police department's school resource officer, the school principal and the Attorney General's office are all looking into the incidents, said Police Chief Ronald Shepard. "We're still trying to determine, was this a hate crime or was it just some kids doing something foolish and not really realizing what the consequences were," Shepard said.
Main Today is reporting that one of the drawings was found on the door of a Jewish teacher. "Whether or not it was an intentional picking on this person or someone thinking 'I'll just put it there and not realize the consequences,' we'll look into it," Shepard said.
But school officials believe that the person responsible for drawing the Swastika on the classroom door was intentionally targeting the Jewish teacher at the school, according to Gorham School Committee Chairman Jim Hager.
