What’s the excuse for such an event in the middle of the year, its one thing on chol hamoed, but ion chodesh adar, are we not mature than this? Do we really nothing top do with our time, I agree its better than some other places that some people go to for entertainment, but to a concert? Where are we headed to? Its good for children in camps, but this? Who ois this cponcert catering to – chassim, Five towns people? With so much going on in the world, do we really have to open up a,other front for machlokes?

I don’t care if there’s a ban or not, non of my family will attend, neither will I let his tapes into my house.
I heard those that promisd him they will fundraise the money to pay off what was lost at the ‘big event’ never came up with the money so he’s trying to come up with the money.

I haven’t confirmed it, but I heard that rav rotenberg from monsey where lipa happens to send his boys in yeshiva is backing the concert. LIPA ROCKS!!! I am almost 30 years old with two close relatives who have the machleh, but for that night me and my freinds will forget about everything that’s happening in the world around us and just enjoy and be besimcha.

Last time it was a fundraiser for a tzedoka org. Maybe this time it will also be a fundraising tzedoka event? So we have entertainment and a mitzva!!

How do you know what the chasam sofer meant?In fact i am as sure as you that he meant music that elevates the spirit,be it music taken from the gypsies in Hungary and Romania,as was done in his time and was mesameyach people,(where do you think Solo Kokosh Shemah comes from?and old gypsy folksong!!)or Lipa and the other frum yiddishe compossers who today bring simcha and joy to the community.Every generation has its musicians and the Chasam sofer might have been in the front row in 2008’s Main great event.I know i will be with all my family!
By the way its sponsered by by all gedolai Yisoral ,and those who didnt join the sponsership it…and you know who you are..werent asked to by the gedolim because they arent gedolim….or am i missing something?

I predict that “gedolim” of last year will not fall into the trap of the “asskonim” this time. Fool me once …fool me twice…. If they do sign a “ban” with the type of nusach of last year they will loose all credibility by the hamon am.
While of course they will not endorse this they will certainly not ban it. There are plenty of people out there that need this kind of “kosher” outlet.
I don’t care for Lipa & his type of entertainment as it certainly does not promote

This concert is a wonderful event for the entire community. It gives us all the opportunity to spend a night out and enjoy. Even the rabbonim have awakened and approved the concert, realizing the big mistake they last time. May hashem forgive them for the tzoros they caused to good people and the money they caused good mosdos to lose. Lets hope that we all have a good time b’simcha.

i think in these times when klall yisroel is suffering so much tzuris beklall and beprat with so much tragedy sickness financial trouble it would be wise for people to donate the money they would spend on tickets to support the yesomim of the mumbai tragedy or donate your money to a family who the father lost his income and doesnt have the money to feed his family or to pay his electric or gas bill this winter or send it to the yeshiva you send your children to who are suffering cant raise money and parents arent coming thru with tuition wouldnt it be wise and comforting that we choose to acknowledge other peoples pain and suffering instead of just getting on with our lives as if nothing happend after all we are all brothers and sisters
if you can get up from shiva and go directly to a concert then go right ahead but if you have a yiddish hartz and think and realize that the world is being swung around with all the world tragedies and closer to home to our jewish nation am yisroel and eretz yisroel it would be prudent and wise to take a step back and rethink if going to a theater to enjoy a concert is the correct move im not even talking halacho here im talking being a jew and feeling for each others

What a coincidence that the concert is advertised on chanuka. The debate goes to the heart of the yom tov is LIPA a misyavnin or is he a macabie.
Just a point for thought for the younger generation, I remember when MBD and Fried were considerd goyishe music now we consider them well gedolei hador. There will come a time when we will say “oy the music of today where is LIPA that was a chasidisher singer”.
Another food for thought on those that claim that LIPA is bringing in goyishe music. Why does music from the sefardim sound like arab music? Why did we get waltz’es from our polishe gedolim? WOW! So many comments all about LIPA. I will also comment. I never liked Lipa. Yes, he’s talented, but he can’t carry a voice if his life depended on it. I don’t own any CD’s from Lipa.
