Well Dwek is now ordering pizza at the local kosher pizza shops. in Baltimore according to a report in Baltimore Jewish Times

Indeed, he was seen at Tov Pizza on Reisterstown Road.

He is here in Baltimore apparently with the knowledge of Vaad rabbinical. They knew he was coming, but we, the community they supposedly serve, were supposed to find out when he showed up in public.

Phil Jacobs of The Baltimore Jewish Times continues to write:

is it possible that his very presence poses a risk to the Jewish community? Is it over the top to even think that?

But Solomon Dwek is bringing the baggage of his fraud conviction and even his informant status to Baltimore.

It just seems as if our rabbinic “leadership,” has acted on this community’s behalf without checking the pulse of the very people they serve.
Or maybe the leadership doesn’t care what you think or what I think.

It doesn’t take much imagination to see how a person with Dwek’s status could cause collateral damage in terms of pure personal safety to the members of our community.

Baltimore has long been a safe haven for all the tri state area rejects, ie suspect molesters and people who no longer feel comfortable in their community’s,
if Baltimorians wouldn’t be such naive nice outta towner’s they wouldn’t attract these guys.

What is he suggesting? That we extend Megan’s Law to cover shoplifters? Should we require that anyone who committed a financial fraud register with the local authorities who will maintain a public database of their home address and notify neighbors. Dweck may be a fraudster and a moser but this is still a story about nothing.

Pray tell. How can the vaad or in fact any person stop someone from moving into the community.
The people of the community should just ignore him, don’t talk to him & don’t socialize with him.
It’s just a pity on his family that they will also be ostracized through no fault of theirs.

It is silly to accuse the Vaad of any complicity in where Dweck chooses to move to. America is a free country, and no permission is needed to move somewhere.

Dwek could move where he wants. Stop blaming the rabonim for everything. You might not like that he’s there but I don’t think he lookd for a rabbis permision and waited for the ok? Baltimore stop kvetching

He’s not a sex offender. You’re at more risk from them. Do you know your neighborhood? For pete’s sake, you live in Baltimore. If you want to be safe, move to Nova Scotia. Or iceland. In Baltimore the least of my worries would be some ostracized jerk about to be sentenced.

Since when does someone (anyone) need permission from a vaad rabonim to move into a community? C’mon guys, this is nonsense. And since when do we condemn sinners by ostracizing them? Last I heard, our batei dinim don’t even put a cheirum on a man who won’t give a get to his wife, let alone the community ostracizing him. A community only has the right to ostracize someone who the beis din ordered to be ostracized, and we don’t even do this much, so what am I missing?
There are plenty of sinners running around free and respected in my community. What about yours? Oh, so it’s only the ones who made the paper, I see. This guy’s face is all over the news, why is that not enough for you?
The day the batei dinim will start ordering yidden to octracize men who keep their wives agunot is the day you can start demanding that they order us to ostracize people who steal money and are supposedly informants.

Is this how one is supposed to treat a “masser”? If so why do rabbonim say not to go to the police to turn in molesters? He didn’t only masser on one person, there were many. Oh, excuse me let me correct myself. He setup many, is that different than massering?

#2 , you feel bad for his family? What about the 50 or so people and THEIR family and all who got ensnareled in this due to him being a MOSSUR and snitch? Their blood is water? You think his family that you’re so concerned about didn’t support his snitching and mesire? Then wake up!!!

He is entitled to live whereever he wants. While he made some mistakes, the articles I have read also indicate he has been very helpful to law enforcement authorities and they have indicated they will ask the judge for leniency at his sentencing hearing in several weeks. We should welcome him into the community here in Baltimore and Pikesville and be supportive as he rebuilds his life.

why does the writer assume that he asked the Rabbonim? It is hard to believe with his track record, that he asked them if he could come to Baltimore! Cmon! are we so dense to believe that someone who could hoodwink and swindle the Rabonim who he grew up with and was treated like a son by, would ask rabbonim who are strangers to him if he could come????

If I were him, I would eat at home. It is so odd to me that he would go out to a pizza store to get pizza. Wouldn’t you just make your own food at home or have pizza delivered. So odd. Really. Is pizza that important at this point?!!!

if u were a rav & a known informant that’s probably taping the conversation & has people protecting him , would ask u if he can stay by your house or community… what would you answer? put yourselves in the rabbonim’s shoes b4 u condemn them !! shmuk

to MBP I saw him in Baltimore with my own eyes. to comment 15 – The Rabbis got themselves involved. He may not have come here without there approval. If the Rabbis were not involved the community would have done the right thing on our own. It is also impotant to know that many Rabbis do not want him here.

This is a person who made very bad mistakes and is going to be living with the effects of his bad mistakes for the rest of his life. The least we can do is feel sorry for him and help him in any way we can on his path to Teshuva. I’m not justifying what he did by any means but all we can do at this point is feel bad for him and help him rebuild his life. I at least give him credit that he chose to settle in a frum community even though everyone knows who he is and what he did so his family can have a somewhat normal life, although we all know that it is going to be very difficult for all of them. Why are Frum Jews sometimes so unforgiving? And I agree with the other people who wrote comments – since when do we have to ask Rabbanim permission before settling into a community. And if he did ask and was, in fact, “granted permission,” then that should be a lesson to all of us that if the Rabbanim could accept him and give him another chance then so can we.

First off the guy is the lowest scum on the face of the universe. He ruined many lives by pulling off his ponzi scheme and than couldnt even be man enough to face the consequences for his actions.
Instead, he went on to ruin many more jewish families by turning them into the authorities to save his own ass.

The rabbanim have plenty to do with this. He moved here with their blessing. True, we live in a free country. True, he can move where he wants. But without their validation he would have never moved here.

I went to his high school in Deal. I was one of his fathers “pupils”. I feel terrible for his family. But his wife chose to stay with him and she must accept whatever is thrown her way. That is the price you pay for continuing to live with someone who transgessed one of the most severe sins that our religion recognizes.

The vaad hachinuch and vaad harobonim made bmore a safe haven for this piece of crap. His kids are in our schools. The same schools who are constantly fundraising and asking the community for our support. Why should we support this type of condonation?

The community outrage is completely valid. This guy is SCUM!

He only poses a threat to the morally challenged in Baltimore, just like the ones that agreed to his proposals on tape in NY/NJ. Obey the law and these things will not happen to you. Sad that Jewish leadership and the people on this board don’t realize this.

To “Get Over It”, I’m not angry, I’m not blinded by fury or emotion. I just don’t get how a person on the “path of Teshuva” as you say, needs so much to get a slice of pizza in a pizza store. I am so confused at what makes people tick. If you were him, would you go out for that slice or order in? Would you make a spectacle of yourself? Shul is one thing…pizza? Honestly, what does this say? And btw, I don’t live there and I don’t really care which community he is in right now. I wish he could tell me why he needed to go to a pizza store???

It’s a free country. He can live where ever he wants. Now, had he been a convicted pedophile then the town would have a right to boot him out. But, just a stam ganev – plenty of those in every community.

Is he still under Federal protective custody from his “friends” in NJ and Brooklyn?

since when is it the responsibility of a “vaad” to decide who moves into a town? I think this is the writer’s way of once again starting fights with the frum community. let the writer try and keep a mitzva or two and then he could open his mouth,

I heard through the grapevine that Dreck got confirmation from the VAAD that his children will be accepted into the yeshivos. In fact, I heard that his children are already attending yeshivos there.

In fact I heard that the Feds threatened the Yeshivos if they didn’t accept his children they would make them problems.

What he did is unforgiveable. If he ratted out business partners or people that he was dealing with ONLY, that would be one thing. But he aggressively went out to seek unsuspecting people who had nothing to do with him.

It is an unforgiveable offense. He deserves the death penalty. Putting small weak jew boys in jail is like killing them. He is a roydayf and therefore deserves the death penalty.

To all who wrote that it’s a free country I would just like to say we don’t live under these nonsense American law. We are Jews!!! Tell me why when the Torah talks of a moser, the punishment is one of the harshest yet we are all lax about it. Has our “political Correctness” gotten in the way of a torah life?
I understand the children are involved but until his wife leaves him and takes him away from her children, we cannot put up with having him in our communities. If she leaves him we will accept her and the children back. WE ARE NOT OBLIGATED TO ACCEPT HIM!!! I don’t care where he moves to but he doesn’t deserve to eat in our restaurants, pray in our shuls, & go to our schools. His day will come- It may look like he has gotten off scott free but trust me when he dies he will be wishing for the fires of hell!!!
