Manhattan, NY – A sneaky smooth talking ex-con swiped laptops from an area under construction on the 14th floor of One Police Plaza, where Commissioner Ray Kelly’s office is located, an NYPD spokesman said.

The bizarre robbery happened, when Jermaine Sweet, a 30-year-old Brooklyn man with 17 prior arrests came to the Puzzle Palace under the guise of recovering a property from the clerk’s office on a lower level, cops said.
After visiting the clerk’s office, Sweet took the elevator to the 14th floor- the site of the Top Cop’s well-appointed official digs, cops said.
Sweet casually struck up a conversation with construction workers who were renovating an office previously occupied by a former Deputy Commissioner for Trials, police said.
The schmoozer-whose previous arrests were mostly for selling drugs- then lifted two lap tops that were sitting on a desk, belonging to a Lieutenant, who quickly noticed them missing, cops said.
Building security was notified and Sweet was arrested for grand larceny as he left the building, a spokesman said.
Welcome to the N.Y.P.D. !!!!!!! -k-
In the police headquarters there is a police chief & now we have an official police thief!
Sounds like blue streak
Doesn’t surprise me at all. If you see the low life the NYPD has working by their garbage lot in front of 1 Police Plaza, you would know no background checks are done on these people.
