As it has every year since 9/11, the NYPD will increase security to protect New York’s Jewish community on Rosh Hashanah, which starts at sundown on Wednesday, Sept. 8, and Yom Kippur, beginning at sundown on Friday, Sept. 10.

“While we have no specific threats against New York City currently, every year at this time we increase patrols in certain areas with large populations of Jewish people as well as synagogues and other Jewish houses of worship,” Kelly said.

Some synagogues throughout the city will receive unannounced visits from the NYPD’s Hercules units, which consist of heavily armed counter-terrorism officers, the commissioner added.

Commissioner Kelly asked that members of the Jewish community be the NYPD’s eyes and ears during this year’s High Holiday season.

“We must do everything we can to protect Jewish institutions, which, along with New York City, are enduring targets of terrorism,” Kelly said.

Kelly says “you people need to be the “eyes and ears” . All that means is that he could care less if you get your eyes poked out, and your ear drum’s burst…..you still ain’t getting your G-D Given (and 2nd Amendment) rights to defend yourself…….brave man that Kelly, with his bullet-proof vest, and Security Entourage.

One tiny question. Actually directed to our Esteemed Mayor. Mike Bloomberg. Who is the NYPD (H… Bless them.) protecting the Jewish institutions from?! (This is a Rhetorical question.) Who wants to harm the Jews?! Aren’t we ALL supposed to have religious rights?! I haven’t heard the Mayor be so vocal about the rights of the Two synagogues in Brooklyn whose Sabbath Services were disrupted by a Musical Concert?! Where was he, the champion of Freedom of Religion, then?!
