The Daily News said 19-year Travis Coley was released without bond Thursday after pleading not guilty to charges of grand larceny, criminal possession of stolen property and falsifying business records. He faces up to seven years in prison if convicted.
Prosecutors said Coley collected the proper toll amounts from large axle vehicles, but recorded smaller amounts and kept the change.
Coley was hired as a temporary worker in May.
The scheme came undone when Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority auditors checked his data input against video recordings.
Information on Coley’s lawyer was not immediately available.
Duh, don’t they all do this?
Obviously, there is no mechanical way to reconcile the number of oversize, multi axle vehicles with the tolls collected. I am willing to bet this has been going on for years and millions were stolen by veterans, many even safely retired on pensions that are not seizeable.
