Executive Director Daisy Khan of the American Society for Muslim Advancement told the New York Times she and her husband are exploring establishment of an interfaith cultural center that is larger in concept than what was originally proposed.

Khan and her husband, Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf, curtailed their original plans for 51 Park Place after a falling out with their real estate partner, Sharif el-Gamal.

Khan said the new project would be interfaith in character rather than predominantly Islamic and would include a center for inter-religious conflict resolution.

“Once we are ready to announce our new vision, we will talk to the property owner and see if it is the right location for us,” she said.

A spokesman for Gamal said he had no comment, the Times reported Wednesday.

Dress it up all you like, it is just words. The facts, once they are on the ground, may differ very drastically from the words.
If the Muslim community is hosting an interfaith relations center near Ground Zero they have accomplished their goal even better, unless they daily tear kriah and daily spit on the mug shots of the terrorists who flew the planes.
Here’s my take on it: If you put lipstick on a pig, it’s still a pig. Sooooo-eeeeee

stupid, if you really want to have an interfaith cultural center show some sensitivity and place it elsewhere, since that seems not an option to them their goal are diffrent.

The picture is somewhat misleading. The implication is that the proposed “Community Center” is within view of ground zero. It is, in fact, several blocks away and ground zero cannot be seen from the proposed site.
