A spokesman with the Department of Buildings says it is investigating the work that was being performed by employees of Transel Elevator Inc. before it malfunctioned.
Spokesman Tony Sclafani said Thursday its investigators would be reviewing the company’s maintenance procedures. He said they also would inspect the company’s elevators throughout the city.
All 13 elevators at the Madison Avenue building where Suzanne Hart was killed Wednesday are being inspected.
Sclafani said the “force of the accident” raised concerns about structural problems for the building. He says engineers are looking into the matter.
Transel didn’t immediately return a call seeking comment.
