Tokyo, Japan – Sony filed a patent application today for a new “SmartWig” as firms compete for the prime marketing spot in the wearable technology division.

BBC News (http://bbc.in/1bWvbyW) reports that the SmartWig can be worn with natural hair and can process data and connect wirelessly with other devices. Sony says the wig can be made from various materials such as human hair, wool, horsehair, feathers or synthetic material.
As stated in the filing, the SmartWig will have many uses. Sony says the gaming industry could have use for the device, though no further details were given.
It could also have health care uses such as collecting physical information like temperature, pulse and blood pressure of the wig wearer.
Samsung and Google are other firms that have launched products in the wearable technology platform.
Sony has not released any details regarding commercial production.
This human hair wig , loaded with technology and Sony know how, will still retail for way below what a typical shaitel is currently sold for. If the shaitel mafia can be restrained from getting involved with this product, it could be a breakthrough for the frum consumer.
