“I didn’t ask God to let me live, but I asked God to give me a proper attitude toward death. And I found that I was absolutely and completely at ease with death,” said Carter at a church service in Georgia.

He continued to say, “It didn’t really matter to me whether I died or lived. Except I was going to miss my family, and miss the work at the Carter Center and miss teaching your Sunday school service sometimes and so forth. All those delightful things.”

On October 1, Carter celebrated his 95th birthday making him the oldest living former US president.

Someone should tell him what’s in store for him when he croaks.

I wish Jimmie Carter well, as he is the oldest President in history (age 95), and the longest married President in history ( well over 73 years). I know that many on this site don’t like him, but the fact of the matter is that countless Israeli and Egyptian lives were saved by disengaging from the Sinai. He has achieved the longest post Presidency (nearly 39 years) of any Commander in Chief, and is only one of four Presidents to be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

The one good thing he did was broker the peace agreement between Israel and Egypt. It has benefited both sides for 40 years.

I wonder if he should be so confident.

Although he was a lousy President, he should not be labeled a Jew-hater just because he opposed Israel. When a group of Chassidishe Rebbes, including the Rebbes of Satmar, Bobov, and Viznitz, zt”l, visited him in the White House, he was very impressed by them, and said it was an honor to finally meet some real rabbis. All his life in Georgia he only met Reform Rabbis, and that is probably why he had issues with Jews as a religious person.

Samwell: that all your comments compliment him for that one little egypt peace treaty and use that same style and content, makes a pretty damming case that you are one guy. especially when its with carter who was despised by the entire country.

“Educated” Archy: You should delete the “educated” part, as that is a misnomer in your case. I am the only Nachum on this site, and I don’t use multiple screen names. Can you kindly inform all of us why you can’t enroll in an evening community college, to take courses in remedial writing and grammar? It is obvious to everyone on this site, that you have issues with the above, and probably flunked writing and spelling courses both in elementary school and in high school, or in the Yeshivah, which you allegedly attended. How do you function in business with your illiteracy?
