Attorney General Letitia James called the rollback a “not-so-bright idea” that “would unlawfully delay the adoption of energy efficiency goals, undermine state and local energy policy, and increase consumer and environmental costs.”

The Energy Department’s move, announced in September, reversed a yearslong push to switch Americans to bulbs that use less electricity.

White House officials called the upgrades too costly for consumers and President Donald Trump told reporters the expected saving from the more efficient bulbs was “not worth it.”

James and California Attorney General Xavier Becerra filed the lawsuit Monday. Joining them were 16 attorneys general and New York City.

Idiots so all of a sudden we should not help tne poor ? It’s crazy how light bulbs use to be 4 for $1. Now it’s one for $5. And what do you save already ? The cost of electricity is not the lights . It’s the AC and other heavy duty appliances

Such crazy people who naively believe in silly climate change hoaxes

Australia banned incandescents ten years ago. A 60 watt incandescent can be replaced by a 7 watt LED costing $3 which has a warranty of 5 years. You can work out the numbers. The government pays electricians to replace old globes with LEDs.

Its not so much the saving the environment, saving electricity for saving sake, it is actually because the electrical capacity that we have is very limited and is being streached so thin by the prolification of electrical devices, that the electric companies cant cope with the demand. Rather than investing in new power stations, & a new electrical grid, they force everyone to use less electricity with eco features, smart meaters & low power, while they jack up the prices so they dont actually lose money.
The savings on most “green” products doesn’t normally pay, unless you use it for 20 years, as the initial cost is so much higher. Prices are coming down and it does depend on what the product is. As always, check the price before you buy it and do the math.
