NEW YORK (AP) — President Donald Trump abruptly ended his White House news conference Monday following combative exchanges with reporters Weijia Jiang of CBS News and Kaitlan Collins of CNN.

Jiang asked Trump why he was putting so much emphasis on the amount of coronavirus tests that have been conducted in the United States.

“Why does that matter?” Jiang asked. “Why is this a global competition to you if everyday Americans are still losing their lives and we’re still seeing more cases every day?”

Trump replied that “they’re losing their lives everywhere in the world. And maybe that’s a question you should ask China. Don’t ask me. Ask China that question.”

He called for another question, and there was no immediate response.

“Sir, why are you saying that to me, specifically?” Jiang asked. Jiang, who has worked for CBS News since 2015, was born in Xiamen, China, and emigrated to the United States with her family at age 2.

Trump said he would say that to “anyone who asks a nasty question.”

“It’s not a nasty question,” Jiang said. “Why does that matter?”

Trump again asked for another question, then said, “Nah, that’s OK” and waved off CNN’s Collins when she approached the microphone.

“You pointed to me,” Collins said.

The president said, “I pointed to you and you didn’t respond.” Collins said she was giving Jiang the time to finish her questioning.

“Can I ask a question?” Collins said.

With that, Trump called an end to the news conference, held in the White House Rose Garden, and walked away.

Jiang and Collins wore masks to the news conference, as did most reporters, following the recent reports that two White House employees — an aide to Vice President Mike Pence and a valet to the president — had tested positive for the coronavirus.

Why are the news conferences so essential, while minyan and schools are non essential?

Why can’t they conduct a zoom news conference like the rest of the world ? Is it bec it’s not as good for the ratings ? That extra visual makes it so essential?

Why did they first wake up to wear masks now ?

Perhaps Phineas the honest man can enlighten us ?

The news conference went smoothly, and nearly all of the reporters were respectful to Trump; that is, until that loud mouth, Ms. Jiang Chiang of CBS decided to stir the pie, and ask Trump a “gotcha” question, as she did several weeks ago. She deliberately belittled his emphasis on testing for the Corona virus, and stated that “people are still dying”. Trump was not going to back down from her provocative and truly nasty question. When he told her to ask China why people are still dying, she deliberately tried to pull out the race card, since she is a Chinese-American, and had the gall to tell Trump, “Why are you asking me that question”. Trump was not going to fall for that, and tried to end the conversation. She wouldn’t back down. Then, Caitlean Collins of CNN, tried to stick her nose into the conversation, and further stir the pot. Some time ago, Trump stated that if the reporters pulled that scam, he was going to end the news conference. I take my hat off to him, as that is exactly what he did. These so-called “reporters” do not engage in the same kind of journalism that Edward R. Murrow, Walter Cronkite, Mike Wallace, Howard K. Smith, or Barbara Walters engaged in. Essentially, they act like entertainment figures with their “gotcha” questions. They are mainly interested in the ratings, and try to humiliate and degrade Trump. He should not have to put up with that sort of abuse.

This bimbo reporter baited the president with a stupid question and got what she deserved. This same communist China loving dish accused him in 2018 of using the N word which was of course a lie.

the great leader simply cant take the heat. He was asked a legitimate question about his attempts to deflect from his testing failures by citing meaningless statistics (“we have the most testing in the world”) and didn’t have a credible answer.. He’s a real man!…acts like a petulant five year old and storms off the podium….another disaster for him in a string of disasters…no wonder his advisers are begging him to stop press conferences
