BROOKLYN, NY (VINnews/SandyEller) – A 46 year old woman is in a medically induced coma after a brutal beating that took place early Tuesday morning on a Williamsburg sidewalk.

The incident took place 6 AM on the southwest corner of Division Avenue and Rodney Street. Police said that the unknown suspect approached the woman from behind, picked her up and threw her forcefully onto the sidewalk.
Surveillance footage obtained by VIN News shows the man kneeling on the sidewalk beside the woman for a full minute, hitting her several times as she lay motionless on the ground.
According to police, the suspect fled on Division Avenue towards Keap Street after attempting to remove the woman’s pants. He is described as a light complexioned adult with a full beard and was wearing a yellow hoodie, dark pants and red sneakers at the time of the attack.
The woman was transported to Brooklyn Hospital with head and body trauma where she remains hospitalized in a medically induced coma.

Those not familiar with Williamsburg may misunderstand and think that this incident happened in a solidly Jewish area, a Jewish ghetto of sorts. Actually the vicinity has a mixed population. Hispanics, Hipsters, Hasidim, and miscellaneous others reside there. It is a mixed area.
Since the woman was wearing pants and out on the street at 6 AM (before sunrise, which that day was just after 6:16 AM in Brooklyn), I tend to doubt that she is from the Hasidic sector. Ditto re a man in yellow and red/pink footwear at that time.

To Shomrim: Yes, many frum women walk for exercise at quite early hours, particularly when it’s hot weather-to beat the heat and/or before they have to go to work. Also, if their kids are still sleeping, to get in a walk before their kids get up.
