JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The public outcry over the mistaken arrest and subsequent abandonment of Yosef Fleischman, a mentally challenged elderly man who was found in a field many hours after his release suffering from hypothermia, has yet to abate. Numerous public figures have visited Fleischman in hospital including internal security minister Amir Ohana, who promised an investigation of the arrest and release of Fleischman.

In the interim, a special campaign has been set up to renovate Fleischman’s home after journalists entered and were shocked to discover his appalling living conditions. Many people volunteered to assist in the renovation of the tiny dilapidated apartment in Meah Shearim.
