In an interview with the Jamaran news website on Tuesday, Younasi blamed Iranian intelligence’s negligence and said that rivalries between the Intelligence Ministry, the Intelligence Organization of the Revolutionary Guards, (IRGC) and other security services had led to weaknesses, allowing the Mossad to gain a foothold in Iran.

According to the report, former minister of intelligence Ali Younesi said that: “Authorities of the Islamic Republic should be concerned about their lives; the Mossad has infiltrated various parts of the country.”

Successive sabotages and explosions at Iran’s nuclear facilities, followed by the most recent assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the deputy Defense Minister, were perpetrated by Israel, according to Iranian officials. In a recent interview, outgoing Mossad chief Yossi Cohen implied that Israel was behind the assassination of Fakhrizadeh as well as other sabotages of the Iranian program and the theft of crucial documents relating to Iran’s nuclear program.

Former president Mahmoud Ahmedinjad claimed recently that his house was bugged and also claimed that intelligence agencies had wasted time arresting the wrong people after Israeli attacks.

“Spy agencies can easily penetrate radical groups and organizations, because in these groups only radicalism matters,” Younesi said. “Spy agencies pick the right radicals from among their own ranks or elsewhere and make them infiltrate other intelligence agencies. The more radical they are, the quicker they get promoted and reach the top echelon of intelligence agencies.”

Younesi claimed that all the Israeli infiltration took place after he left the intelligence ministry in 2005 and suggested Iran should remove radicals who were most likely to be lured by foreign intelligence agencies.
