NEW YORK (VINnews) — After the war broke out in Ukraine, Breslov activists in Uman opened a number of frameworks to assist refugees, including designating hotels and guest houses near Rabbi Nachman’s tomb to host refugees, operating a 24-hour hotline, providing daily meals and opening safety zones for residents and guests.

The city of Uman has been relatively calm since the beginning of the war, and many Ukrainian residents benefited from the activities of the Breslav representatives.
Certificate of honor for United Breslav community
In a formal ceremony which took place at the end of the week, the mayor of Uman, Irina Pletniova, granted a certificate of gratitude to the United Breslav leaders for their benevolent activities and assistance to the local community and to refugees travelling through the city. Breslov’s lawyer represented the group at the ceremony.
United Breslov initiated aid programs both for Jews and for non-Jews who required assistance but most of those who benefited from the aid were non-Jews and Breslov have succeeded in making a big Kiddush Hashem (sanctification of G-d’s name) through the assistance they provided to all who needed it.
