On Sunday Magal took his sons to visit Bnei Brak and to meet Ponovezh Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi Gershon Edelstein. Magal also visited the yeshiva, accompanied by chareidi journalist Yisrael Cohen.

Upon meeting Rabbi Edelstein, Magal’s youngest son asked him: “How does one become a great rabbi in Israel?” Rabbi Edelstein answered that one must “study Torah, make efforts to increase Hashem’s honor in the world and not think about being a rabbi because that just disturbs you.”

Rabbi Edelstein advised Magal and his children to pray for others who need what you need, to study Mussar for five minutes a day, to say some Tehillim daily and to judge every person favorably.

Magal also asked Rabbi Edelstein about the continued media attacks on chareidim. Rabbi Edelstein answered that “we need to explain that Torah study is protecting the state of Israel.” When asked about the future of the state, Rabbi Edelstein answered that “it is all in Hashem’s hands, everything will be for the good.”

Rabbi Edelstein answered that “we need to explain that Torah study is protecting the state of Israel.” “

Direct from the Rosh Hayeshiva. No nonsense about the medina being “avodah zarah.” Just a word about bringing acheinu beis Yisroel up to speed with Torah reality.
