At that gathering, leftist lawmakers unanimously approved a resolution calling for an “immediate ceasefire” in the Israel-Hamas war–yet they refused to include language condemning Hamas as a terror group.
A compilation of some of the most vicious pro-Hamas and anti-Israel comments was shared widely on social media.
Last night the Oakland City Council voted on a resolution to call for a ceasefire.

One commenter said, “Calling Hamas a terrorist organization is ridiculous, racist and plays into genocidal propaganda that is flooding our media and that we should be doing everything possible to combat.”
“There have not been beheading of babies and rapings. Israel murdered their own people on Oct. 7,” one woman told the city council.
Another referred to the terror group as a “resistance organization that is fighting for the liberation of Palestinian people in their land.”
“The notion that this was a massacre of Jews is a fabricated narrative,” one commenter said. “Many of those killed on October 7, including children, were killed by the IDF.”
Another commenter questioned whether beheadings of babies and rape occurred during the October 7th attack.
“Hamas is the justification that Israel uses to commit genocide. Eliminating Hamas without condemning the apartheid state of Israel is basically encouraging genocide,” Salah Albakri, several of whose family members were forced to flee Gaza, said.
“When a council member asked to add language condemning Hamas, a stream of public comment praising & supporting Hamas ensued. The council then rejected the request to condemn Hamas,” Jewish California state senator Scott Wiener tweeted. “Just awful.”
British journalist Piers Morgan, accused the commenters of being “brazen terrorist sympathisers.”
Mr Gregory of the Jewish Community Relations Council Bay Area told The Jewish News of Northern California the meeting was the “most antisemitic room I have ever been in.”
Not surprisingly, an AP story about the meeting reported a completely whitewashed and distorted viewpoint, calling the resolution “carefully crafted” and referring to the antisemitic hate has “impassioned rhetoric”:
“Oakland’s City Council on Monday passed a carefully crafted resolution calling for a cease-fire in the Israel-Hamas war after hours of hearing impassioned rhetoric about the deaths of thousands of civilians in Gaza.”
