Historic Satmar Visit Sparks Massive Crowds, Full Lodging, and Weeklong Events Across Israel

JERUSALEM – The Satmar Rebbe of Kiryas Joel, Rabbi Aharon Teitelbaum, landed in Israel on Monday, marking his first visit in nearly five years and his first Shabbat in Meron in a decade. The visit has generated significant excitement across the charedi community, with thousands of chassidim traveling from the U.S. to join the events.

The Rebbe departed the United States on Saturday night, flying via Athens on an Emirates flight where he spent Sunday resting. Yeshiva students in Kiryas Joel held a tzeitchem l’shalom ceremony before his departure, giving him funds designated for the poor in the Land of Israel. Upon landing in Greece, the Rebbe prayed Mincha at the airport together with Rabbi Mendy Hager, son of the Vizhnitz-Monsey Rebbe, who is currently observing the year of mourning for his mother.

A group of chassidim accompanied the Rebbe throughout the day in Greece and joined him for all daily prayers.

On Monday afternoon, the Rebbe will arrive in Israel on a private plane and head directly to the Har Nof home of Rabbi Moshe Sternbuch, the senior halachic authority of the Eida Chareidis. Security officials have arranged extensive protections surrounding the visit.

The highlight of the trip will be a large Shabbat gathering in Meron on Parashat Toldot, where thousands are expected, including approximately 3,000 chassidim traveling from the United States. Meron has run out of available lodging, prompting organizers to erect additional sleeping and prayer tents. To accommodate English-speaking visitors, local streets have temporarily been renamed with titles from Satmar seforim, including “Yismach Moshe,” “Divrei Yoel,” “Berach Moshe,” and “Lev Aharon.”

The visit has been in planning for months. During his first week in Israel, the Rebbe will remain in Jerusalem, participating in ceremonies connected to the expansion of the large Satmar beit midrash on Yonah Street and other community events. On Wednesday, he will travel to Beit Shemesh for the inauguration of a new Sefer Torah.

On Thursday evening, the Rebbe will travel to Meron for Shabbat, where large tents have been erected at Complex 89 and near the gravesite.

Next week, he will visit Bnei Brak and stay in the local Satmar neighborhood, inaugurate the community’s new girls’ school on Shelah Street, attend additional events, and receive chassidim for blessings and guidance.

Rabbi Teitelbaum is scheduled to return to the United States next Thursday.

Satmar Rebbe can take pride in his apparent success in his fight against internet use for non-business matters, as all the comments here have been posted by his detractors, and not by his many followers.

Secular Jewish doctors are attending and healing Frum patients. One has to be silly and stupid to say that Frum Yidden are hypocrites by going to a doctor. Israeli police are doing security to anti-zionist yidden and going to secular Israeli doctors et etc.. No problem here.

Well they didn’t take from the state and the state still comes to arrest them anyway for not joining the secular leftist Melting Pot Army that sells out its own soldiers. I wonder why

Did he bring Momzeri with him? And who provided security for the visit, the hated “Zionist entity”?

I wonder what this trip is costing, including everyone in the entourage. $$$$$$$$$$$$$
In other news, the UJO of Williamsburg meets with Mamdani to discuss the high cost of property taxes……..
It doesn’t bode well when the leadership of the community spend like money is no issue. Just saying.
