Aleksandr Liberzon, leader of the Alexandria religious Jewish community, called on local law enforcement agencies to find and punish vandals without delay. “This act of anti-Semitic vandalism is an insult to all Ukrainian people,” Liberzon said. The monument in Alexandria was opened in May 2006 on the site of a Nazi wartime massacre of some 2,500 Jews. [JTA]
