Not to minimize this and other tragedies and I agree with the positive comments. But the reason we are seeing more accidents today is quite simply (derech hateva) because there are exponentially more young frum people now then even 10 years ago. Just look at the size of your local schools and its competition compared to 10 years ago. Being so there are more opportunities and more destinations available to more vacationers.
Of course we have to do teshuvah but we also need to be aware and thoughtful of the dangers of these trips. Especially when traveling alone or in small groups and to stop having inexperienced people from leading and/or driving groups.

Don’t disregard responsibility and instead say lets have a kinos and do teshuvah.

Funny how nobody is in this instance lambasting the rabbonim who are trying to put an end to hiking and other dangerous recreational activities. How about, yes, the rabbonim knew what they were talking about; yes, saving lives is important.

This is a very very sad day for K’lal Yisroel. Hashem is definitely sending us a message.
We all have to wake up and return to Hashem. Enough partying. It’s time to get serious. Moshiach is on his way.
