New York, NY – Three city traffic enforcement agents were arrested on Tuesday and charged with writing dozens of falsified tickets for cars parked on Manhattan streets, police said.

The agents were facing forgery and other criminal charges following an internal affairs investigation, said New York Police Department spokesman Paul Browne. A fourth agent also was expected to be charged.

Investigators believe that the agents drew up fraudulent parking tickets on at least 46 occasions, Browne said. Those tickets will be voided, he added.

The agents were accused of randomly jotting down license plate and other information from parked cars during the morning, whether they were in violation or not. They then recorded the information later in the day to make it appear as if they had been busy writing tickets, authorities said. [ap]

Hey attorney- I don’t intend to report you to anyone. I just want to know whether or not you think that what you wrote was a violation. Better yet, did it even cross your mind.

It’s strange, because it is pretty obvious that the city could legitimately ticket a lot more drivers. I see so many unticketed violations every day. Although these lazy works should be reprimanded, NYPD should further increase ticketing.

And, if you guys don’t want to get “screwed” by TEAs, why don’t you 1) park legally, or 2) even better, get rid of your car?

anonymous at 6:37. OK, you are right. You can report me to the Grievance committee. Be sure to put my name and the name of the client in your letter. If you need the address, just let me know and I will post it here.

The privacy act only applies to names and information that could disclose who the client is. In healthcare it is the same way. You can discuss a patient c ase, but not any specifics that will give away who it is. Its as equal as making up a case….

And, Bloomberg is the one behind all this. He sends out these clowns specifically during busy times to nail the middle class, and claim success for the city budget while killing everyone else. He should rot.

Hey Attorney- If i’m not mistaken, it is a violation of the ABA Model Code of Ethics for an attorney to disclose confidential information obtained from prospective clients, past clients, current clients and confidential information obtained prior to rejecting a case. Is is not, Esquire?

I THINK YOU SHOULD VOTE AGAIN FOR BLOOMBERG MAY BE THAN HE WILL DOUBLE AGAIN THE TICKET SO HE COULD WRITE LESS TICKETS. AND STILL HAVE ENOUGH MONEY.

These agents and police officers work on a quota system. They stand to lose if they don’t write the required number of tickets. That is why they make up stuff or give very borderline tickets. This is a fact verified by agents and cops. Bllomberg uses ticket funds to show what a great job he is doing handling the city budget… That is the problem

I was on the receiving end of such a ticket. To add insult to injury, the agent ripped up the ticket, and
I only received the notice with penalty. To her credit, the Judge voided the ticket.

i don’t think there are any kahoots.
the ticket agents are hourly workers and so are the administrative judges.
they get paid whether they do a good job (or fair) or not.
there is no accountability in nyc government.

With all the violations I see daily, why would they have to resort to writing bogus tickets?

    also once screwed
    also once screwed

Anybody know if this was only Manhattan? I also received a ticket like this, went to fight it, found a half dozen others given tkts the same day as me, for the same offense, but the judge didnt even hear us out – I think they are in kahoots (sp?) with the cops
Any lawyers out there to advise how to deal with this garbage? It’s hard enough trying to stick to the law, then when U do, and get screwed anyway…

They should have a trial by mail, then they should have to sit in jail while they appeal.

The question is, how were they caught. Many people have been given false tickets for years, this is nothing new. What tactic was used to catch these people. If we know, we can use the same.

They are probably one of the most corrupt ad inept departments out there.
They should all be retrained in how to do their job and how to be a human being.
What a waste of taxpayers money.

I am an attorney. Just recently a former cop came into my office. He wanted me to sue the NYC Police Dept. becuase they had thrown him off the force. The reason? He got caught writing fake tickets. I did not take his case.

We were the target of such a ticket in Boro Park. When we tried to fight the ticket (there wasn’t even alternate side parking on the day in question) the judge still told us we were guilty.

Perhaps the judges are in on this too.

    SHAME ON THEM
