New York – It appears the New York State Thruway will again figure prominently in a dispute between the Seneca Indian Nation and the state over cigarette taxes.

Seneca President Barry Snyder outlined the nation’s response to a law signed by Gov. David Paterson that would ban manufacturers from selling unstamped cigarettes to wholesalers who supply reservation stores.
Snyder says tribal councilors are now devising a system to collect tolls of $2 per car on the Thruway, where it passes through the tribe’s Cattaraugus Reservation in western New York. He called the interstate an illegal, unlicensed business.
In 1997, the Senecas burned tires and shut down part of the Thruway following an attempt that year by the state to tax Indian suppliers.
We should all move to the reservation it will take care of the communitys housing problem, also they pay less taxes, and they live on whelfare mamash a chassidshe kremal:)
How would they collect from the cowboys on horseback?
I sure hope they’ll install the same type of toll collection like on Israel’s Kvish Shesh – otherwise the cowboys will be delayed as they’re chasing the indians…
What about covered wagons – they usually travel in groups – will they get a volume discount?
Couldn’t a portion of the money they collect on tolls be put directly into slot machines in real time as the cars are passing through. If you WIN, they will have your license plate # and will notify you by mail to pick up your winnings.
