Its an open haluche in shulchan oruch that a man is obligated to make sure his wife and kids have simchas yomtov. And I think everyone would agree that taking kids on outings enhances their simchas yomtov. Of course the children of self-righteous poster #1 are made of a finer cloth, and their happiness is derived from the torah so indeed for them the quickest way to achieve simchas yomtov is thru learning.

How about going out with your family to the zoo or aquarium or possibly the boardwalk or just the local park or botanical gardens….all of these places don’t cost too much….but in the long run, you’ll be amazed about HKB”H beautiful creations….Chol HaMoed doesn’t mean spending a bunch,it means family Achdus….
we went to old bethpage village. it was very nice, not too many people, & all the workers were tznius even the men.
just go to a park, or the ferry ride to staten island, or the promenade on either side of manhattan or brooklyn. don’t do the commercialized “rides” and “theme parks”,
if you must spend money go to museums, aquarium..
Thats where I went with my family today. I found out that I could use make membership there, and I could get free admission to the brooklyn, manhattan,
staten Island and LI museums. My kids will have entertainment any time I want to
take them, and I wont have to pay again. It was a fantastic experience, and I hope to use the membership out too.

Jewish Children’s Museum,
Intrepid Sea, Air, Space Museum
space farm in nj is very intresting, worth to give a try. a guten moed.
When I was growing up, we got togetehr with friends and played ball or games in each other’s homes. We were happy. Now there is this obligation to entertain our children. An outing with admission, tolls and gas costs at least a 200 dollars and, that’s after spending tons for Pesach. Why can’t we just live a simpler life?
Queens Science Museum
All of the museums in Washington, DC, are FREE.

Yesterday we went to the National Air and Space Museum and the National Zoo (http://nationalzoo.si.edu/default.cfm).
Liberty Science Center
Queens County Farm Museum. Small farm/petting zoo. FREE. 73-50 Little Neck Parkway, Queens.
Went to Intrepid today. Jam packed. Lots of fun. Srully Williger concert was fantastic. At the end of the concert as people were leaving the venue, the band (not the singer) played Yerushalayim Shel Zahav and Hatikvah! Way to go!
A hint: For $60 buy a family membership for the Newark Museum on the website. Then you can get free admission to many other museums and attractions all over New York and the world, even Eretz Yisroel.
I used it for the Intrepid today and already saved more than the $60
The Newark Museum has a list on their site of which places do and don’t take the card. Liberty does not. Also, NY Hall of Science.
