NBCNEWS.com (http://nbcnews.to/15z4yQO) is reporting that complaints from local residents led to the removal of the sign.

Woody Henderson, who encountered the sign featuring an apparent caricature of Obama outside the supermarket on Columbus Avenue and 97th Street, said the grocery chain needs to take more responsibility.

“There are certain things that have been used to put black people down—watermelon, fried chicken…” said Henderson, a local resident.

Jason Nunez of the Bronx said, “Even if he’s not the president, you’re going to have an African -American promoting the sale of chicken? They can do better than that.”

A spokesman for Whole Foods said ‘no disrespect’ was intended and that the sign was simply one of a variety of pop culture images the company uses to promote sales and events.

I doubt YIddn would take offense to a Yid in a BAGEL ad!

Both Republican and Democratic administrations have opposed any use of the President’s image for commercial purposes. It has nothing to do with racism…its simply inappropriate, even if his image was used to promote chulent.

If they have a sign with obama and a bird, it should be of obama giving us all the bird. That would be a true ad!
