Record Online (http://bit.ly/18GSfkE) reports that the 3-1 vote was read in front of a cheering crowd of about 150 people Thursday night.
The vote was ostensibly a reaction by residents to the fact that the development and school would be Hasidic, despite the developers stating the town houses would be sold to anyone.
Residents at the meeting carried signs reflecting this thought, with sayings such as, “Our children are not welcomed to enroll.”
Although schools are allowed by the zoning in the village, the vote still passed. The project’s developer, Kenneth Nakdimen, threatened legal action.
If the developer would allow any resident to purchase property, it would have passed. Instead, he caused much anti-Semitism and the tax payers responded. It will now cost the developer thousands of dollars to appeal this.
Plain discrimination. Had they rejected the development because the likely purchasers were to be black, this would have been condemned by everyone. Since it’s ‘only’ hasidic Jews, discrimination is not big deal. Either it’s America or it ain’t.
Sold to anyone?
Why would they want to send their kids to a Bais Rochel school anyway?
The Bloomingburg residents are so broke they cant affort new shoes once a year. The units if sold to public will only be sold to Jews since they cant afford the down payment let alone proof of income for a mortgage.
150 is the whole town which means by this pesach Chol Hamoed satmar would outvote these loosers and have a chasidish Mayor and chasidish Planning Board instated.
No doubt those people are antisemites. They have been showing it publicly for many years.
