In an interview with NBC Today (http://bit.ly/1PcDX2F), Patrick Cherry apologized for his actions and said that he was angry in that moment, but not mad at the driver. Cherry says when he pulled over the driver, he asked him for his license, and the driver looked away, then looked back at Cherry with a smirk.

“I let my emotions get the better of me,” said Cherry.

The officer also says that his question to the driver of, “How long have you been in this country?” wasn’t based on race, but rather asking the driver about his experience driving in New York City.

Commissioner Bill Bratton said that no good cop can watch the video “without a wince.”

VIN News previously reported news of the video, where Cherry was caught on video screaming at the Uber driver as one of the two passengers, Sanjay Seth, recorded it all (http://bit.ly/1Cxcths) and uploaded it to YouTube. Cherry mocked the driver’s accent, slammed his door and threatened to arrest him for allegedly breaking three traffic laws.

Seth tweeted that he questions Cherry’s side of the story and his “interpretation” of the incident. He says the Civilian Complaint Review Board needs to sort out the facts.

Cherry was stripped of his badge and gun, and taken out of the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.

DUH! How nice, he’s not angry at the driver. Get him under oath and charge him for perjury. He should have been working for Mendel Epstein instead of the FBI.

The Internal Affairs Division of the NYPD should never have turned his matter over to the Civilian Complaint Review Board. Over 98% of complaints brought to the CCRB’s attention, are dismissed. Even when complaints are upheld in the other two per cent of the cases, the cops receive minimal punishment. On the other hand, the Internal Affairs Division, punishes rogue cops. In this particular case, Cherry is not an angel. He was previously involved as a defendant in two civil rights lawsuits, pertaining to police brutality, deprivation of civil liberties, etc. As a result, NYC had to pay nearly $100,000 to settle those two lawsuits. Also, Cherry has received twelve civilian complaints, for other incidents. He is a loose cannon, waiting to strike again. He must be permanently assigned to desk duty, stripped in rank, from a detective, to a patrolman, lose 30 day’s of pay, and four weeks of vacation. Also, he must never again be allowed to serve in the Joint Terrorism Task Force. He is a terror, on his own, with his cursing, screaming, and bullying!
