WUHAN, CHINA (Newsmax) – An eye-opening study conducted by Chinese and American researchers reveals that people who get COVID-19 may not develop antibodies that could offer them immunity in the future.

“People are unlikely to produce long-lasting protective antibodies against the virus,” the researchers concluded after examining 23,000 blood samples from hospital workers in Wuhan, China, where the pandemic originated.
According to the South China Morning Post, the scientists said that at least 25% of the workers could have been infected at some point during the pandemic, but only 4% developed antibodies. This information dashes hopes that people who recover from COVID-19 could be issued “immune certificates,” which would allow them to work and travel freely.
Antibodies stop infections by binding to the spikes on the virus, preventing it from invading the cells. Some antibodies remain in the system for as long as 12 years after infection, said experts. But the new research presented by Wang Xinhuan from Wuhan University’s Zhongnan Hospital and scientists from the University of Texas in Galveston showed that more than 10% of the people in their study lost antibody protection within a month, according to the Post.
“The idea of an immune certificate for recovered COVID-19 patients is invalid,” Wang wrote.
The study backs up statements made by the World Health Organization emphasizing that the belief a one-time infection of the coronavirus can lead to immunity remains unproven, according to NPR.
“There is currently no evidence that people who have recovered from COVID-19 and have antibodies are protected from a second infection,” WHO said in a scientific brief in April.
If this is true, though we must suspect any data coming out of China, it is very bad news.
Although people might not have detectable antibodies, anecdotal evidence has shown that people don’t get infected twice.
if this is true then how is life ever going to get back to normal?
Stop the fear mongering now. This is all political BS. My family and I had the virus in mid March and we all tested positive for antibodies this week. This all a political tactic by the Chinese and the liberal left.
Or here’s a crazy thought. Maybe we can trust that Hashem has a plan and we can do our hishtadlus but go on with life. If there’s no immunity then why did almost not one out of the 4 million confirmed positives get it twice?? I think 3 or 5 cases worldwide of people who got it twice. That’s like 1 in a million
If this is true, which I doubt, all of Dr. Fauci’s insistence of waiting for a vaccine is null and void.

We dont have to look further than our own community, where social distancing has not been practiced since at least Lag Baomer. How many cases have you heard of since then? None. Perhaps there are a few here and there, but certainly no deaths. Its over.
As a Doctor I have already tested myself (3 separate times over the last 2 months and gave plasma) and have tested others more then once with a 6-8 week span between both of their tests and have had no significant change noted in those who already had the antibodies on their first test yes some went slightly down less then 1% from what they had before but i als ohad patients who actually went up also less then 1%
hence i am very skeptical
There may be an effective vaccine next year. In the mean time we can be cautious to protect ourselves and our fellow yidden. I don’t like it any more than you do but some things are not difficult. Store owners should surely wear masks as they talk directly to numerous people constantly and could infect large numbers of people. People should wear masks and/or distance in crowded areas. I don’t understand how some Jews feel this is unacceprable. I say it’s hishtadlus and what Hashem expects us to do.

I wear a mask all the time. I live in Boro Park. l have the antibodies & not taking any chances.
I find it very disturbing that 99% of the people in Boro Park are not wearing masks. When I walk Shabbos to Flatbush, at least 75% of the non-Jews are wearing masks. And at least 50% of the modern Orthodox are wearing masks. All the modern Orthodox Shuls I have heard of are complying with all the rules. Very limited capacity. Unlike the Shuls in Boro Park. The Chassidishe shul I went to one Shabbos I saw the men’s section was jammed packed on a recent Shabbos. Didn’t see one person wearing a mask.
A very prominent infectious disease doctor I spoke to said if we get a 2nd wave – can be a different mutation then no one will be immuned. And if that happens, Chasve Sholom, the Chassidishe community is going to be hit the hardest.
Another thing wanted to mention, I saw a store in Boro Park that had an OpenNY sign in the window, saying they will comply with all the rules – masks, have hand sanitizers, etc. Well I saw a women coming out of the store, no mask. And worse, the person who was running the store at the cashier, no mask either. Saying they would comply with the rulesm not doing so And stores that have a sign to wear a mask – most people not wearing a mask.
Also, people don’t realize that the tremendous Chillul Hashem they are causing by not wearing a mask. Most of the non-Jews in Boro Park, wearing a mask. And most of the non-Jews, not wearing masks. Shame. Let’s pray there won’t be a 2nd wave, because if this happens, the Chassidishe are more likely to get it the worst.

Just think about it. How many people do you know that had coronavirus? How many of those people had it a second time? Now, do you still believe this study?

FYI wearing a mask has a negative medical side to it. Studies have shown that it affects the oxygen levels. For people to be driving while wearing masks is outright dangerous.
What he means is that just democrats should wear masks all day long while they drive ,but republicans don’t have to .
