According to reports, investigators have been gathering evidence to support Mr Mirachi’s allegations that the plainclothes detectives used excessive force during his arrest. The investigation into the terrifying incident appears to be ongoing.

The incident took place during Charedi protests last week, however the victim insists that he was an innocent bystander. As we reported, Mr. Mizrachi, a Charedi bochur who works in a nearby store, described the abuse that he suffered during Wednesday’s protests, which he says was completely unprovoked. He also said that the detectives said, “Look, we caught another dog.”

Videos show Mr. Mizrahi innocently approaching the police vehicle and telling detectives that they had scratched a car. One of the men got out of the vehicle, hit him in the face and apprehended him. They punched and beat him, placed him in handcuffs, and chained his feet. Then they put him in jail overnight. At one point the victim was screaming that he could not breathe.

When they brought him to court the next day, the judge was so shocked by their treatment that she ordered him immediately released, and reprimanded the police for their alleged brutality.

She asked one detective if he realized how serious this matter was, and he stammered in response.

The judge then expressed how “appalled” she was at the “totally senseless violence”, saying it was “impossible to understand how after viewing the [arrest] report, the prisoner was not immediately released with apologies, and the case referred to the Police Investigations Department.”

Again the police were speechless.

To make matters worse, the police appealed the judge’s decision to release Mr. Mizrachi unconditionally, and requested that it be overturned.

Mr. Mizrachi’s injuries were so severe and ongoing that on Motzei Shabbos he needed to go back to the hospital.

The Israeli police will get away with their unchecked brutality in this case, as has occurred before. The reason that they perpetrate such despicable behavior, is that they know they will get away with it.

The Israeli police are particularly brutal and for no reason. They an be respected if only they commanded respected. Of course they’re hated – they bring it onto themselves. They are brutal in way too many unnecessary situations. Inexcusable.
