When Bogdan Chmelnitzki Enlisted In The IDF

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Bogdan Chmelnitzki enlisted in the IDF. No, this is not a Purim joke, Bogdan Chmelnitzki did indeed join the IDF in the 1990’s. A Ukrainian immigrant to Israel during the mass immigration of the early 90’s, Chmelnitzki presented himself at the IDF recruiting center, wearing a cross on his chest. Apparently Chmelnitzki was eligible to immigrate based on Israel’s bizarre Law of Return which allows those with Jewish grandparents to become Israeli citizens, despite their having no connection to Judaism.

When Chmelnitzki, who bears the name of his infamous ancestor from the 1648 massacres in Ukraine, came to the medical board, Dr. Nachum Zilber, a doctor on the board missed a beat when he heard his name. The doctor asked him whether he was related to the first Chmelnitzki and was answered in the affirmative.

It was then that the doctor got his second shock, as he turned to his friends from the board and wished to see their reaction to the news. There was no reaction, besides one member of the board who had a faint memory of such a name.

Bogdan Chmelnitzki was directly responsible for the barbaric massacre of over 50,000 Jews in numerous communities in Ukraine in 1648-49. The Tosfos Yom Tov composed a special elegy over these Jewish communities which were annihilated, as well as a special prayer to prevent talking in shul which he saw as the cause of the destruction. Yet for some reason Jews in modern-day Israel have forgotten this cursed murderer, despite the biblical imperative to “remember what Amalek did to you”. Amalek is a symbol of those who wish to uproot the Jewish nation, to physically exterminate them due to their hatred for what the Jews represent.

Ironically, the second Bogdan Chmelnitzki ended up risking his life for Jews as a sniper fighting the Hezbollah. Yet it behooves us as Jews to remember our bloodstained past and to realize that we are like “a lamb among seventy wolves,” persecuted wherever we may settle by descendants of Amalek who cannot accept the Jewish nation’s role as a light among the nations. We must never forget – not just the Holocaust but all the Jew-haters of history, even if their children may eventually come to fight for us and live in the Jewish state.

Well by now most of us frum and heimisha are well aware of Ukraine’s history and current events. Did you know that Ukraine never voted for Israel in the last two years. They voted 13 times against Israel and four times abstained. Now they wanted Israel to vote against Russia on their behalf. And Lapid the hater of Torah pushed the other knuckleheads in the government to support Ukraine.

What a stupid article – “the second Bogdan Chmelnitzki ended up risking his life for Jews”. How exactly is serving in the Israeli army during peacetime is risking one’s life at a higher rate than many other civil occupations?! Did he have a legal choice not to serve since he is an Israeli citizen, courtesy of the Medinat Judenrat?! Did anyone climb inside his head and saw that his reasoning was “for Jews” as opposed to a dozen other likely reasons?! And I won’t mention the complete moral bankruptcy of the Medinat Judenrat elites, who are willing to import goyim, including numerous sonei Yisroel, just to postpone the impending chareidi demographic takeover IY”H.

The Chofetz Chaim never said such a thing! What a bunch of baloney! Even if he was anti Zionist, he never said a Yid was Mezera Amaleik. It’s bad enough to lie, but to lie in the name of a Tzaddik is lower than low. Shame on you!

I don’t know if we should discredit this fellow for the sins of his great great grandfather. How many descendants of Nazis are supportive of Israel.

I wonder How this fellow feels after this article. he risked his life to protect Jews, but they refuse to put aside his lineage, a lineage he didn’t choose. Chazal say that Haman’s descendants learned Torah in bnai brak, they were mezera amalek.
What was vin thinking when publishing this piece? Couldn’t you just say that a lot of jews died at the hands of Ukrainians through out history.
Did you also have to tell a hero that no matter what he does, his genes are no good?
That’s what the Germans told us.

The article reflects the irony of life. Just as so many ‘frum’ Yidden hate The State that now protects them and supports them with benefits. Ironic.

Is this article meant to highlight the antisemitic past of Ukraine so we should “not shed a year” like a previous article insisted? If we go based on that, then m pretty sure there is no country in the world, or at least Europe, that we should shed a tear for based on historical antisemitism. By that notion, perhaps we should not shed a tear on losses in Israel based on anti-religious/anti-semitism

did the Chofetz Chaim really say the Zionist are Mezera Amalek. If he did indeed, he must have lost it in the later years. Many old Rabbonim have lost it as they age. Just give a little glance around

Israel’s bizarre Law of Return”

Not bizzarre. It was designed so that anyone who would be persecuted because of a connection to Judaism would find refuge in Israel.

What does heathy mean and riles? Check your spelling before posting a comment!

The law of return is based on the riles who Hitler yemach shmo murdered for being a Jew. If the author considers that absurd I would suggest he no longer say 6 million Kedoshim either.

The Zionists are, according to the Chofetz Chaim, “miZera Amalek”.
It’s much more important to “never forget” the Zionists, who are still hurting our brethren in the Zionist State of Israel, than the savage murderers long gone.
