Shapiro Speaks Out Against NYT

FLORIDA (VINnews) — Popular conservative talk show host Ben Shapiro, an orthodox Jew, has blasted the NY Times in a series of tweets, over its vicious hit piece against Chassidim.

Shapiro wrote: There are 1.1 million students in NYC public schools. The public school system there is a disaster; the NYT has supported policies that promote its failures. So the NYT is laser-focused on 50,000 students in private Hasidic boys schools. There’s a reason for that. The media’s new war on Hasidic Jewry is merely a metastasized version of the old culture war against evangelical Christians: anyone who rejects the predations of Left-wing pseudo-morality must be targeted. That theme undergirds the NYT investigation.  I am very much in favor of solid English, math and science education for students of all stripes. But the NYT’s specific focus is extraordinarily telling.

Thanks so much!!
If only we would have more people stick up for us like Rabbi Margaretten and Ben Shapiro, we would be in a better position.

Ben should have no say in this. He is an elitist and got an education none of us (or our kids will never have). He also has no idea what’s happening in our community, how could he? I’ve got lots of brothers. They all went to Pupa. They’re all either dyslexic or they got a terrible English education. It’s so bad, that their wives had to teach them how to pay the bill or fill out a doctor’s form. But what’s so sad, is that they’re all financially struggling because of it. Their oral English is poor and they’re not entrepreneurial kind (those who are, have a huge upper hand), so their options are minimal. It breaks my heart. As parents, our job is to make sure our children can succeed in this world, both spiritually and financially. We need to do better!

Ben Shapiro is correct.

But what he doesn’t know that the Times is just the messenger. The real culprits is Moster and his ilk’s who is fueling Anti-Semitism for the last few years.

When we pray three times a day VeLamalshinim Al Tehi Sikvah we must keep in mind Moster and his troubled left back friends.

The NYT agenda is irrelevant. If there are some chasidic schools that do not teach secular subjects adequately and if, in fact, many chasidic children do not read or write at grade level, as a result of educational neglect then steps must be taken to correct this situation.

Do not obfuscate or minimize the fact that many students are graduating from their schools without meeting basic educational standards in order to promote a political agenda or point of view. We owe it to our children to be truthful, objective and proactive in addressing this problem.

Did Ben Shapiro attend schools with limited secular education and does he send his children to such schools? Why not?

it must be said that the response from the chasidic ommunty to the slander of the wicked times and the hate filled mosters has been pathetic. imagine if nyt had written an article like taht about blacks-sharpton would be outside their building leading a protest, imagine about the muslims? sarsour would be out there with a a megaphone (of course nyt will never attack blacks or muslims- only jews) why aren’t there 10,000 chasidim outside nyt headquarters? why hasn’t anyone demanded that yaffed be investigated for charity fraud? why hasn’t someone put together the numerous antisemitic tropes that nick and miram have been writing the past 10 years and send it to adl, deborah lipstat etc? why aren’t there spokesppl out there on behalf of the mosdos?
either way the reshaim at the times claim that they will tell the story of chasidic grads so why don’t they have ppl speak to them about b and h? bonei olam? misaskim? hatzolah? etc all our chesed, successful business ppl etc.i know that they are reshaim and will try to twist whatever we say but they will still have to publish some successes also.
Btw i think it was a mistake that the mosdos just ignored them instead of giving their side of the story
either way we move forward knowing that Hashem will always protect our yeshvos from the mosters and all the hate-filled liars who seek to destroy them!

Agreed, on abortion everyone is concerned about the child never mind the parent, but when it comes to education you own your child till he’s 18 to ensure he gets nowhere in life essentially killing him as the gemarah describes a man with no possessions, but just wait for all the comments to point out the few hundred millionaires we have in our midst…part of a chronic brain death we have in our community where everyone calls our schools the next generation of leaders! No! Not everyone will be a leader, if we were all leaders there would be no constituents hence no leaders at all, every body deserves a shot at being a joe schmoe that makes a couple hundred k a year, our system is designed for the majority to fail while we point at the 5% that made it in life and say hey we’re doing great, like that putz that made a video yesterday that he’s a victim of the yeshiva system…

I do believe if every parent with children in yeshiva, EVERY, would go down and register their children in public school there would be a significant change in attitude. There are not enough schools or teachers to accommodate the new influx of students. The old schools that were abandoned due to non attendance and were subsequently bought up by the yeshiva community will not be available since they are now privately owned by non-profit organization that can continue to own them. The state will be in a very bad position when they try to accommodate another 100,000 children into their system. I think things would change in a matter of days if not hours. This takes achdus, but it will be worth it.
If there would be Amish people in New York they would never attack them as they do the Yidden. Perhaps if only the elected officials and school board would analyze the system of education of yeshivas and compare it to the great social success (sic) of the public schools they would get a better understanding. Thje NY Public schools are lucky if, of the graduates, they have anyone who is bi-lingual or tri lingual. Most students with a yeshiva education have a minimum of two and many are literate in three and four languages. So my son in Viznitz does not have a perfect control of the English Language. SO? He is fluent in Yiddish, Hebrew, Aramaic, and English. His k’sav is beautiful, he will never steal, rob, rape, murder, speak bad of another person, and is involved with many chasadeem. He knows how to learn, is at the top of his yeshiva, is beloved by his rebbes, mashgiach, and Rosh Yeshiva. Many of his fellow students are like him.
Can the public schools boast the same way?

That’s a really bad take. If the media has worse than usual intentions, it’s much more likely to be antisemitism than it is to be the “culture war.”

Ben’s very much in favor of solid English, math and science education for students of all stripes. He’s also is a master at articulating his own opinions and affecting change. He’s a proud Jew and is a real role model for our children.

Does anyone know what / if anything he has done to increase Yeshivas’ English math and science education? Or does he just tweet his opinions when he reads a NYT article?

“The media’s new war on Hasidic Jewry is merely a metastasized version of the old culture war against evangelical Christians”

In his mind, it all comes back to the Christians.

I don’t believe that Shapiro believes what he’s saying. He’s shown us evidence he’s smarter than this. I think he’s really enjoying the lovebombing from his Christian fans.

I usually agree with Ben , but what he’s missing here is that the New York Times frequently criticizes the public schools

Why is Ben Shapiro so popular in the frum world? He’s an intellectual car salesman who hides his lack of depth by talking fast so nobody has a chance to stop and listen to what he is saying (which is usually only what his audience wants to hear).
