(VINnews) — Since October 28th, U.S. pharmacies and parents have been grappling with a shortage of children’s amoxicillin, an extremely common and useful antibiotic.

The drug, used to treat ear infections, bronchitis, strep throat, and other bacterial infections, was added to the FDA’s list of shortages, reportedly due to manufacturing, quality problems, delays and discontinuations.

The shortage specifically affects “amoxillicin oral powder,” which pharmacists use to mix a liquid version of the medication that is easy for young children to swallow. Amoxicillin is not used to treat viral infections like COVID-19, RSV or the flu

Hikma Pharmaceuticals, Teva, and Sandoz have all reported shortages of various doses of amoxicillin.

Since last spring, parents have struggled with a baby formula shortage that made it difficult for thousands to provide proper nourishment to their babies. Now, at the start of the cold and flu season, parents are facing the shortage of a critical children’s drug. Hopefully this will be resolved quickly.

No kidding… Whoever didn’t see this coming has their head buried in the ground… I had to drive a half hour to find medication for one of my children because the pharmacys (big pharmacies and little pharmacies) in my area did not have it at all and they don’t know when they will be getting it in.

I don’t recall any shortages (other than China-virus-related short-lived shortages of toilet paper, paper towels, hand soap, disinfectants, masks, etc.) before the demented Biden moved into the White House.

Again let’s not pretend that Biden isn’t to blame. I said this months ago. Biden needs to get a grip of all essentials in society and be proactive to ensure no shortages. Supply chain issues isn’t a new issue. But he is sleepy and only reactive .
