JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The father of the terrorist who perpetrated the murderous attack in Jerusalem on Friday night responded to his son’s actions, stating that “His fate was sealed to be a Shahid (martyr). I wish to say to those sitting with me -this is my joy, this is like his wedding.” The terrorist, Alkam K’heiri, held Israeli citizenship and had no previous security offenses.

The father added that “Alkam’s brother is a minor, why did they arrest him? They handcuffed him, this is the Zionist occupation. His brother was released but now my wife is in custody, I heard the interrogator say: ‘pressure them’, and I said, “praise the lord! He decided that my son should be a Shahid.
The terrorist had written a post in the past in which he stated that “the right sniper in the right place is better than a thousand soldiers in battle.” He added that “we want unending war, who said that we want peace?”
The terrorist was named after his grandfather, who was stabbed to death by a Jewish extremist in 1998 in revenge for the murder of a yeshiva student. The extremist was never apprehended.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad spokesmen welcomed the attack, calling it a “heroic action and revenge for the dead in Jenin” and “an expression of the unity between Jerusalem, Gaza and the West Bank.”
Celebrations also broke out in East Jerusalem after the attack, with the terrorist’s picture published on social media and people giving out candies and setting off fireworks to celebrate.
